I was surfing the inter-web while the pacer 560 dried on the canopy when I came across this, anyone try a fuji .05 yet? I'm thinking of giving it a shot for my quickiee I'm going to build. Any feedback is ok, tell me the truth about it before I buy one.

Dang sounds good to me at first glance especially the double ball bearing part. Just trying to find some weight / horsepower / rpm / torque data on it and listen for others to chime in before I reach for my wallet. Usually Japanese made stuff is good though.

It sure does look like it should scream. I don't think the reports about how it works for aircarft have been very good. Could be it has been "over propped" by the reviewers so far?

The bummer is, they don't list an availability of the sucker, 2-12 weeks if you read the fine print of each definition.

The Toki 05 as is the Fuji 05 are both the same or at least kissin' cousins of the Sportwerks 05 engine marketed in North Amercia by Horizon Hobbies:

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=SWK4200 where you will also see the name Piktor on the side of the crankcase. Best as I can figure out Piktor is large distributor in France sort of like Horizon Hobby. Undoubtedly these engines are have their roots in Asia.

Look at the spares for the Sportwerks 05 and you will see they are the same replacement parts as listed for the Fuji.

The car guys hop up for ARF R/C cars that come with the Sportwerks 05 is to use the drop in replacement Picco P-Zero 05 engine.

cheers, Graham

The picture shows .11 Webra on left, the engine in question Toki .05, and the Cox .049 on the right

This engine looks pretty, appears to be well made....is large and heavy for an .049. Mine is staying in the box.

It's a purpose-designed car engine that's been modified for airplane use. Unfortunately, the design that makes it so rugged and well-performing for a car makes it too heavy, and the porting isn't as suitable (from what I've heard).

If the carbs work I'd love to toss 2 or 3 in the bin for future creations.

Well, the carbs work....but they're WAYYY massive. I tried to run mine, but like an idjit I tried to do in-plane (and I think I had a fuel delivery problem). I really need to get it on a true test stand and wangle out some numbers. It's a shame it uses a regular ol' glow plug.

Whoa!, that's a honkin huge engine compaired to the cox, I guess it's a .10 size case witha big thick sleeve to make it .05 cu in. Cooling might be a factor as well, there's a few more engines I found as well, let me find the exact pages and post the links.
