The choice of battery is mostly a function of how large a plane and how many servos. Let us know these details.

Yep, the choices are endless. Pretty much anything will work fine. What plane is it for?

it is for a hangar 9 p-51 pts size 40. jr r700 receiver. total 5 servos. Im bidding on two 4.8v 700mah receiver type batts for like $5. Its cheap enough to just try and hope it works. What do you guys use? i would really like a higher quality battery. but i will use these for now.

So you have an airplane, engine and radio system and you are bidding on cheap airborne batteries and hope they work. So what if they do not? Pay the money and get good batteries.

A new 600mah 0r 700 mah pack 4.8volts probably won't be more than 17 bucks.

I agree get a good battery pack, you never know how those on Ebay have been treated. Most likely OK, but why take a chance. Have a look at www.onlybatterypacks.com I have been using their 850 NiMh flat packs and no problems 5 packs for 25.00 plus connector and shipping. Beats Ebay and you know they are fresh.

I prefer something a little larger, in the 1500 range.
It gives me more flying time between charges.
I've never had to charge at the field, always had enough for the day.
It may throw your balance off some so be prepared to make some adjustments.
Don't buy a bunch of extra packs for the future - they have a tendency do die sitting around doing nothing.
I still use the wal-wart that came with my 600 mAh battery I just do it longer.
I've bought Ebay batteries and haven't been badly burned but not real excited about them either.
I do cycle several times to form and test them before they go in the plane.
I also have a fair amount of electronic experience to make these decisions with.
Others are right, why save $15 and risk your $150 plane?
Good Luck,

Did your airplane transmitter come with a charger? If the answer is yes it will probably charge the receiver pack also. As far as the mah that's a loaded question. for a standard servo equipped plane. such as your P-51 you should be able to get 5 or 6 flights between recharges. 10 minute flights.

So use the charger that came with your radio. Check your charge with a meter and you should be OK. Use an expanded scale meter that has a load switch for best results.
