Yeah I dont know what my problem is ha ha. We know scorpion works, and by Huisons data it works really well- and fits and saves weight! I just don't know a lot about these brands. I'm an OS/YS guy and just like quality.

Scorpion motors work great on this plane.  Both of the ones I have flown are using Scorpion.  They have great support as well, just give Lucien at Scorpion a call.  You will see that he will spend time giving you information prior to the sale, and this attitude extends to warranty issues as well.

Scorpion seems like the best option. Just about to order one up. Have a buddy that's serious with 3D helis and he recommended Scorpion, and seeing what he puts his equipment through it means a lot. I also like Husions data - plenty of power, plenty of flight time, and not a hard workout on the battery.

Neu motors sound great but no real data on an appropriate motor for this plane. Those motors don't need the rear mount, and I think someone who knows a lot about them could find a gem for this plane. I don't know enough and don't want to be the sacrificial guinea pig. An appropriate Neu would be my first choice but I'll take Scorpion as a happy second choice.

Really I'm just excited about the plane and a little impatient. Just felt like talking about it

OH - anyone try anything different for mounting the canopy? I was thinking of magnets, or maybe velcro? Seems like the canopy frame matches up closely with the framing in the fuse, and may be room for magnets in the cutouts in the framing.

I'm hesitant to mount a latch as it seems like there is a spine-type member that goes along the top of the fuse that I'd rather not cut away. Any thoughts?

Reality check. Go with recommended Hacker on 8S and CC85HV or YGE 80HV controller. At your level, you need reliable equipment with known support should you have a problem and just plain old stick time. . If you asked any of your D1 top pilots, thats the answer you'd get. But who are we? Chump change I guess.

Mr Lasagna Lover ... the canopy is held down with M3 screws on either side and also magnets. I prefer the screws, it gives you a lot of peace of mine. Removal is a mere couple of seconds. Use some washers so that if you over tighten then it will not damage the fuse.

Are they OUT? Doesn't make much sence, being that they seem to

Perhaps I am wrong?

Koch, They are just going through a us distributor change. Eu distributors are fighting an eu postal strike. Fedon was the us distributor but had issues, so we were going through eu. Esprit is the new us distributor, and got thei first shipment in last week, right on schedule, and started shipping to customers this week.

Esprit Model rules!!! $38 for Fed-Ex Saturday Delivery!

Plane looks great. Just gave it a once-over inspection and SebArt definitely does all the work for you on this one. Not sure why I was a little surprised to see aluminum gear - I think that was the heaviest thing in the box?? Anyway, what this plane definitely ISN'T is a Great Planes model, ha ha!

I'm moving to a bigger place in January so will take it out and weigh it then, and start assembling. Will work on ordering more stuff over the next few weeks. Maybe look into alternative gears? Who knows...

CONGRATULATIONS on your plane, Joe!!!! THAT'S what I'm talking about.

Now take your time and assemble it right so I can benefit from all your choices when I get MINE!! LOL

Anyway, best of luck with it. Hope it all works out fine!

PS: Not a Great Planes model, huh

Well this is kind of stupid, but the landing gear doesn't line up right - either the gear is misdrilled or the holes in the plane were drilled wrong. The gear only fits with the tapered edge facing rear, which both looks wrong and doesn't let the gear cover things line up right.

Maybe all the more reason to search for a set of CF gear??

Edit: judging from the pics in the manual, the gear was drilled wrong.

Joe ... oh man! Were you drinking when you tried to fix it? Hehehehee ... I am sure the LHS will replace it for you. On mine one of the blind nuts gone wonky, it will not tighten, its not come loose but I don't know why it will not tighten. So I need to check the other 2 bolts often.

ha ha, definitely no drinks when working on a $600 model, that's for sure! I emailed Sebart, maybe I should send Esprit an email? Not really much control they have over it. I also emailed (someone) about a custom set of CF gear. Hopefully it won't be too far from $50 and I'll just go that route.

But boy, oh boy, this plane is nice. I'm excited

Joe ... I am happy with the aluminium gear, I don't want to have to rip the Lift Generators out of the plane again, just am too lazy ... Enjoy the build, its all very easy and I hope you have small hands, because you will really 'enjoy' working on the pull-pull rudder. Best to start inside (servo end) first because it will be easier to work out the wire length outside the fuse.

Just take good care of it please. So when you sell it to me used (after you get your Wind S Pro or OXAI) it's still in excellent condition!!

Joe,

I also received my Wind Saturday as well as a friend of mine that lives nearby. Finally got a chance to take everything out today and inspect it really close. Very nice and well built plane. Not a wrinkle in it anywhere. I also have the Miss Wind, and it was exactly the same, very high quality flies really well. Hoping for the same with the Wind. The only thing that I found was the top portion of the vertical fin was twisted a little from center line. It was easily corrected with a sealing iron. I guess I was lucky, my landing gear were drilled right. Dumb question, but if I looked at it right, it looks like only one additional hole would have to be drilled in each gear to make yours fit if they in fact drilled the pattern backwards. Again, I did not measure or anything, just a thought for you to think about. Looking forward to getting started on assembling mine. Hope all goes well for you moving to your new place. I too will be moving in the near future, and not looking forward to the move process one bit... I would like to take the time to wish everyone a very safe and happy Holiday season...

Larry....

Well, that one hole would have to be pretty darn close to the existing hole. I also don't have a drill press, and I really don't feel like doing any hack-jobs on a $600 model. Since yours was done right I'm hoping that this isn't wide spread (and happy for Esprit so things go smoothly for them) and they can just send me a new gear. I'm in no hurry to get this done, and actually am shopping for a CF gear anyway.

Glad you could fix your tail. I have a phobia of crooked stabs.

Plenty of glue on this bird. Hard to find areas that need any additional glue/reinforcement.

Definitely the Best of Holiday Wishes to all my fellow RC friends!
