I am considering using the dynaflite heavy-duty hi-start http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?Q=&I=LXE636 for my GP Spirit. This hi-start is rated for wingspans 120" and below but is it too much for the 78" spirit ? I want a hi-start that I can still use as I upgrade to longer spans. TIA......

Grab one from Aerofoam or Northeast Sailplanes.
All the ohters are pretty much junk, from what I've seen.
My very slight preference would be aerofoam.
Also, don't try to get a one-size-fits-all. A nice 2 meter or standard hi start will not launch a 3+ meter ship, and a 3meter+ histart will not do a good job w/ your 2M spirit.
I'd recommed either the aerofoam heavy duty 2m, or the NSP standard, to get you started out right.

I have a spirt & a dynaflight std Hi Start It is not sufficient to gain much altitude on a launch . It has 50' of rubber & 150' or so of string . I can get maybe 100' of altitude max so far. I am launching at about45d up angle and an amazing amount of stretch (3x or so). !/4" rubber is ok more mould pull the wings off I think --but 100'of rubber would be better. Already using 300'+ of field . that would mean 450'+ of field may have to go to a power pod.
