Hey Mike,

Although they have been out for a little while, I just recently got the showtime 4d 90 size. I understand this plane can do pattern type flying as well as hovering and such. I am mainly into the hovering and other 3d stuff and was hoping you or someone could tell me what might be the optimum cg for this kind of flying or whether shifting the cg from what it says in manual makes much difference in the 2 flying styles?

Thanks
Mike

The CG in the manual is a very good middle of the road CG. My best advice is to start there and then move it to suit your taste.

Thanks Mike,

Main reason I asked is I have it set at stated cg but was getting some wing rocking in pure vertical hover. Would you know if a more forward or aft cg might help this?

Thanks again
Mike

Do you mean in a high alpha attitude? In a pure vertical hover, wing rock doesnt really exist. Any wing movement there is simply torque rolling.

Thanks Mike,

I guess it was more of a high alpha hover. Any suggestions which way to go with cg to see if I can take this out?

More forward if anything, though it probably wont help a lot. Are you using the SFG? I found they help reduce wing rock quite a bit.

By forward, you are referring to making it more tail heavy, correct? Yes, I tried the SFG's and it was still there a bit plus I still havent quite got used to them so they have been off and on a couple times..
