Status: offline 		Guys can any body tell me what I can use to claen up the head fins of my 46 0S AX Engine.
to make it look new again. This engine is new I have just run through the engine 4 Litres of fuel on the test stand prior to putting it in my pylon racer. I must of got fuel over the head fins when filling he tank & now its gone brown! Can any body suggust how to clean it up.

Status: online 		what i used to use some time ago was Metholated spirits [ Metho ] you need to remove the head and place it in a sealed jar then cover the head with metho and leave for approx 24 hours. you will need to buy a small wire brush but preferably with plastic bristles not wire as it may scratch the head alloy. another product that may work even better than metho is Acetone.

Status: offline 		The best way is to take the head off and place it into a crock pot with antifreeze on low untill the varnish melts away. This has been written about many times - DO NOT USE A CROCK POT YOU COOK WITH!!! POISON.

& I do have a old Crock Pot. Thanks djbyon for the Imformation.

Status: offline 		Set the crock pot at low (no higher than medium) and leave for about 12 hrs or more. The high setting may cause some of the aluminum parts to turn gray.

Status: offline 		Try Dawn Power Dissolver. Just spary it on, let it sit for 1/2 an hour and rinse with water. Works great. This stuff is meant to clean burnt on food from pans but works great on engine gunk.

Status: offline 		I think most of the races in Australia and New Zealand require 80/20 FAI fuel, therefore they can't use synthetic oil.

Coolpower oil which is Morgan's fuel. I think made in the USA.
80 % Synthetic & 20% Castor. 10% Nitro & Methol.

You may want to check your fuel. The Cool Power (green fuel) in the US has no castor in it, it is all synthetic oil.

Morgan does make a fuel like you mentioned, but it is Omega (pink fuel) and has 20% castor.

Status: offline 		Daven, we are in the lucky situation here of being able to buy the COOLPOWER OILS- blue, pink, green and gold. Vendata is obviously using the pink with the mix of synthetic/castor blend, regards trevor h nz

Yes I think the 0il we are using is 0mega (Pink) 20% castor 80% Synthetic.
Morgan's Fuel. Is there many of you guys using this brand & percentage of oil?
If so in your mind is it right for the pylon racing engines. I also use the same
oil & percentage in my Q40 Nelson engine, but without Nitro.

Status: offline 		We used Omega for all of our racing here before powermaster was around, and we still use it for our 46 class of racing. a bit of caster is OK to ease the mind.

powermaster is like buying the top shelf beer if you got money to burn
