Of the wife or jets. Just got the latest Sportflyer mag this morning and read a article on a electric DF jet. It is a Panther F9 that was clocked over a 158mph. Now here's jet for maybe $2000 that has all the speed you need. And no waiver needed. He says the ground roll on take off is about 150ft. Has retracts. Later if you want to move to turbines this plane could be used for the waiver. The kit is fiberglass and wood and retract ready for around $700. I'm going to go to their web-site now @ Ductedfans.com Dennis

It's not you, the site doesn't work. I tried linking to it through the AMA site too - no good.

For some grins I opened up the beginners forum and came across this post. As an owner of several RC jets and a turbine waiver holder I read thru it with great interest. I had really forgotten about the first time I saw a turbine jet at the top gun event in FL about 10 years ago. At that time I was on RC plane #3, a Great Planes Super Sportster. I feel in love with the turbines and thought maybe some day. Turbines were something that I built up to, many glow planes, a couple of 1/4 scale’s, 2 35% aerobatics and one 40%. 3 years ago I saw the BTE Reaction and decided to order one along with my first turbine. I had about $4000 which was less then I paid for my 35% and 40% planes. It was an awesome plane to fly and you just could not beat that sound! Well that was 5 jets ago (3 of them below) and I'm having a ball every weekend flying them. Yes they are expensive and they are not for everyone, but don't be afraid to have jets as goal in this hobby. Anyone interested in seeing some of the best in action, we are having a jet fly in at GA Jets on Sep 18th thru 21st. It is at one of the best clubs in the USA. http://www.georgiajets.org/

This thread is a little old but I was out at our field today admiring some of the jets. There is a pic thread over in the jets forum:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7968734/anchors_7970384/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#7970384

Definitely not beginner material but still nice to see and imagine the possibilities in the future.

Here's a video of just a tiny portion of the action today:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbzFv1e1yE4

The video doesn't really do it justice. Five jets in formation, full throttle, smoke on is just incredible to see. Then seeing three large A-10's in the air at once. Pile that on top of all the other great flying and it makes for one heck of a day.

This type of event is a must see for anyone in the RC hobby or anyone who just loves airplanes and/or fast stuff.
