Which Savage 4.6? There's the 2nd release Savage SS, the X SS and the X RTR-all had the 4.6 engine. The most valuable is the X SS, then the X RTR and last, the Savage SS.

I have both and the F makes a lot more power than the K, holds a tune better and does not seem have the leaky front bearing and air leaks that the K has. I think the F is a better engine in every way. Bud

I would not say it is a smoking deal, but it is not a bad deal either. I paid 250 and 41 shipping for mine new on an ebay auction. Bud

i think its a good deal if its the new savage x... the old 4.1 x was not that great i heard. if the engine has a silver block its a 4.1 if it has a black block its a 4.6

The rule of thumb for buying used rc cars/trucks that I always use is no more than 1/2 the retail cost of the truck and any upgrades. Since a new Savage 4.6 RTR is about $420 I'd be looking at the $200 area and depending on what "everything to rip" includes probably no more than $250.

ya the chassis between the two is the same except for the spur gear... that stock dual slipper spur is junk and when it does strip get your LHS to put the x 4.6 one on.

EDIT- also i belive the brake set is the sigle disk on the 4.1... and the diffs on the 4.1 are weaker
