Great flying this weekend but I still have a fricken woble! I had a crooked paddle and thought that it was the problem but no....
Tracking is prefect, paddles are fine, Main shaft is straight, blade grips are the same tightness.
What the Heck?????

I have the standard one. The whole heli wobbles on it's axis and the tail makes a circle. It acts like low headspeed but it's like 2800 rpm and that's not low.
It's driving me crazy!

I KNOW WHAT"S WRONG!!! The FRONT pulley that drives the tail, it has a small gear below it that meshes with the main gear that drives the tail.... the small gear is loose or slipping.....I had it happen, so I know. Get one of these...then forget it ever happened:

http://www.xheli.com/exi-31113.html

This is the CNC tail drive gear set....the plastic one fails like crazy.  I bought one of these, haven't had a problem since.

Huey...it's a PITA, but to check it properly, you gotta remove that unit. Use a rag/pliers and hold the belt sprocket and try to turn that small gear. If it moves under pressure....you found it. It could also be slipping at the belt sprocket, but I doubt it. If you say belt tension is good, and I think you did....then somethings slipping and I suspect the small gear. In a year...I had to replace two or three of the plastic tail drive gear sets, then I just spent the extra on the CNC set.....problem gone.

I found the problem! The esc had lost it's programming and I had low headspeed after all. I had checked it with a tach and I was running only 2000 rpm! Reprogrammed the esc and zoom! No woble just a little wag from the higher speed so I set the gyro down a hair and perfect.

I guess I'm talking to myself but I tried the gov mode tonight and didn't really see any difference at all but the heli was ill tempered for some reason! Probably because it was soaking wet from the humidity!
Also I think that I need to go to a fifteen tooth pinion for some more headspeed. I got the motor used on a different heli and I don't know what KV it is. I'm thinking that it may be for a four cell setup.

Yeah....I think this thread has met it's demise. I had problems with a 12T, got better when I switched to 11T....AND I actually wore out my first belt. The inside was nearly as smooth as the outside, I had a couple spares hanging on the bench.

How many flights did it take to wear out a belt? I rarely get to fly through a whole battery so my belt should last a lifetime!

DX is slow  because alot of the time their stuff isn't in stock. HC will tell you if it's in stock before you order. DX is the cheapest place to buy though.

Quick question.

I read somewhere that the EXI's don't come with an instruction manual.  Is this true?  Can you use the actual Trex manual?

Thanks

Depends on which EXI you have...  or are getting...  The EXI basic is built around the TRex V2 and you can use that manual...  The EXI Pro I believe is based on a....   brain fart and its gone...  Someone else will be able to answer that right Crash..

 cheers

You can use the T-Rex v2 manual. A freind of mine has a T-Rex....they're about identicle except a couple quality issues with the EXI-450...some components aren't built as well as the Align stuff. The kicker is, as the stuff wears out...just buy Align replacement parts...good to go.

I think that it's based on the mini Titan and that's totally different than the Trex.

SHAZAAMM...  Thats what I wanted...  the Mini Titan...   I have a link to a site that has tons of manual if you need it...

As for heli's you can't really compare a Trex with the EXI 450 basic model...  Like comparing a VW with a Porche...  But like Crash says...  when pats break or wear out simply replace with better parts whether they are chinese aftermarkets or Align...  Both work well...
