did your servos come with the nuts or did you have to puchase them separate

Usally, the heli kit should have them nuts, I've never seen servos that have them other than the larger servos and as always, it's pretty easy to make them from plastic...most of us have.

I had a few laying around and I think they come with the MX-400 because the EXI's don't. I haven't had an MX-400 in almost two years. The MX-400 with ccpm frame was my step after the HBKII. I was using so many T-Rex parts on that MX-400, I decided just to go with the EXI, and the MX-400 is discontinued which is fine because I defy anyone to take it out of the box and fly it...it ain't happening. The EXI isn't the best in quality either, but it will fly out of the box as stock, and only requires minimal Align parts to make it as good as a T-Rex, and still costs WAY less than a T-Rex. EXI is now producing the Legend 450 which utilizes the main mast to drive the tail, it's quieter than a standard T-Rex tail driven rig, this MAY be my next 450, check it out...price isn't bad either:

You are doing the correct thing. Most people should start out with an even larger heli like a 30 nitro as they are easier to control than the smaller ones.

Check the image out below and look were the cyclic servos mount at the front of the heli they mounted using the standard bolt used for the body assembly so no nuts are needed but heres my dilemma if you mount the servos on the outside of the frame its easier but it also puts the linkage at a weird angle and to mount them on the inside you have to physically remove the head assembly and top head assembly bracket which i done and you have very little room to use a small allen wrench to tighten the bolts does anybody know if putting them at that weird angle will affect anything because if i dont have to tear the thing apart just to replace a servo it will save time and reduce down time too

IF they are all at the same angle it probably won't hurt anything.

According to what I see, the servo front (where the spindle is sticking out of the servo) faces rearward on the front two servos, and the servo horns face straight rearward....that's th the fron setup. The rear set up is pretty straight forward....the servo body stick OUT of the frame, bad pics, but I hope they help:

Tip on the nuts for the servos. Just glue some small rectangle pieces of plastic to the underside of the servo mounts(to the servo itself). Drill a small pilot hole through it and stick it in the helicopter. You dont have to hold on to the nuts now because they are glued to the servo. Easy.

thats a good idea on the servo nut.. i personaly use servo horns.. lol.. i actually flew about 4 good packs of mild 3d this afternoon... i have been flying my sport flyer heli, but i got my other heli all rebuilt again.. it flew extremely well through those 4 packs... i had the belt a little too tight... anymore i run the belt a lot looser than i thought i ever would.. i also leave just a little slop in the main shaft ( you know, the collet that sits below the swash plate that has the 2 grub screws).. i get a little longer flight times this way and the heli handles amazing.. i think i see an exi500 in my future for christmas.. lol..

I think the 450 size is perfect. When we move up above that then the expense rises pretty fast. My EXI 450 flies about as good as anything I have seen. Best bang for the buck is the 450 in my opinion.

I agree....we're gonna get hit hard and hit early this year, and I'm in Michigan. At least I don't have to dodge tornados as much as you.

No way...! Oh man, your gonna LOVE IT..... I love my 450 to death, but like for instance when it was to windy for my skill level this morning with the 450, I went and grabbed the Trex 500 out of the car, and it flies so much better in the wind for sure. You'll love the 500 for that without a doubt ! Yeah get some video of the 450... Its been awhile since ya posted some film of her. Here's my video of the 500 from this morning :

Jeff...by watching the trees, I'd guess 12-15mph with gusts up to 20+mph...looked pretty rough, but the 500 handled it smoothly, I'm impressed with the stability of the 500 in a gail force wind.

Vic ~

Yeah I wish I knew what the wind was.... I really want a wind gauge someday... I tried the 450, but when I had the canopy off to install the battery the wind blew the fiberglass canopy a partial ways across the field ! LMAO... But you know me, I still tried in idle 2 with 100% flat T-curve, but just didn't have the stones for my skill level is all... The 500 did really good. I learned a lot today, and feel confident it could handle more wind for sure.

On the weatherlink, at the time of my flying they said it was 21-26 mph gusts... You pretty much got that on the money. I guess your experience shows !

Yeah, I was a little off but normally I use the neighbors american flag as a guage. Trees are a little harder to gauge by because some bend more easily than others. I did know you were up in a pretty stout wind. I've flown my 450 in 18-20mph winds, but no gusting which makes it easier. Talk about lift when fling into a 20mph wind...it ballons right up with not much collective. The biggest thing in flying in wind is you gotta have a GOOD gyro, that'll save your skin for sure.

more flying today guys!! i changed my pitch curve in idle up.. it was as follows 0 25 50 75 100 .. i changed it to 0 20 50 80 100 .. this allows less stick movement on the collective when doing flips and what not.. it really feels a lot better to be honest.. faster response with less stick movement.. i may go a tad bit more but i wanna get some more time with it for now.. i flew out 6 packs today.. a little windy but was awesome... sorry no video.. no cameraman today

Dude, yer WAY ahead of me in skills mine of which are now rusting. My last crash sent me straight to no heli at all...for a long time. Since we're headed into winter anyway, I decided to take a long heli break. I'm currently flying as weather permits, a GWS Corsair fitted with a brushless motor and 40a ESC being pushed by 2200mah 20c's, and since I feel the current motor is a tad aneimic, I ordered a 35a brushless equal to a .30-.35 nitro engine, which will give me better POWER to swing a higher pitch prop...hoping for good vertical performance. I'm also putting a Tower Hobbies Uproar ARF on order tomorrow for some .40 nitro fun. I'll pick up another EXI-450 standard in about 6-8 weeks, also EXI CNC, and a Futaba GY401 gyro, and see where it goes from there.

i am having great luck with the g401b gyro and the mks480 on the tail.. holds rock steady.. i will say it IS as good as either of the gy401's i have used.. i am currently waiting on an AT-6 texan to arrive.. i already got the engine in the mail for it ( .61 four stroker) .. it is the red/white aeroshell.. i think its a 62" span on this one.. gotta love those warbirds. i would love to get an f4u one day.. i also ordered all the stuff i need to outfit the exi500.. i have an extra gy401 and a 9650 for the tail i am going to use, along with a spektrum receiver.. the rest i ordered from hobbycity.. gonna give those turnigy lipos a try (6S).. THIS STUFF IS VERY ADDICTIVE.. i am running out of places to hide this stuff from the ole lady!!!
