ANyone else been flying? I managed to back the Caliber 30 into a bush last weekend and trashed my CF blades! This was after the best flight of my life! The EXI has been parked for bad weather but it's getting better!

Mine's been laying on the bench waiting for parts....things are a little tight so I've been flying my plane. I don't know when I'll get parts, but it'll be soon I think. At least my plane can handle 20mph winds pretty good. Our weather has been crap for about 4 days now.

Yeah, The weather has been crap here too. Last weekend was good but it's rained ever since. Been tinkering in the shop some, fixing the 30 and charging up the batteries for the electrics in the hope that this weekend will be nice!
Too muddy for chores so I might get to fly!

Supposed to be awsome here tomorrow, I know I'll be flying the Uproar. Did a LOT of cleaning in my little shop and I set a slot car track up on a table for the grandson...he likes it, they bore me to death, but I put up with it for him BUT an HO train set is even MORE boring. I hope I can be back flying helicopters before December gets here...might not happen tho.

Yeah, there isn't that much difference in size from the Protos to the Caliber 30 really except in the weight. The Protos is much more powerful too!

Hey....you got me interested in the 500. Let me know how that works out, I may get out of the 450's depending on what you tell me.

i will.. so far its looking very promising.. i got most of the electronics from hobby city.. 80a plush esc, tower pro servos (digital metal geared), a turnigy 7.5a bec, a hobby city motor, turnigy lipos, and the rx, gyro, and tail servo i took off of one of my 450's ( i had 3 complete 450's and decide to use the 3rd for spare parts).. i am willing to bet that this thing will hanlde very stable.. slower 3d moves will be better to keep under control also.. the size of the blades on this thing amaze me.. i kinda got the same feeling i had when i got my first 450.. its big and you are a little nervous to spool it up..the exi seems to be a nice choice as it has a lot of cnc parts on it instead of plastic..

It takes a little getting used to. The first time I fired up a 30 it felt like I was starting up a real Huey and trying to fly it![>:]
You will be amazed at how much easier the bigger helis are to keep up with though. The exception is the Protos, it is nerve rackingly quick in every way. I am going to have to slow it down to be able to enjoy it until I get much better as a pilot.

was kinda curious what everyone uses for blade balancing tape or things you have tried and found to be a bad choice? Any input will be appreciated...

ok guys.. so far im having issues with the 500.. the motor has a cut-out or bad stutter at 75% throttle.. not sure what thats about.. so i decided to get the old 450 back out and warm the thumbs back up.. its been a while so i figured i would give it a try.. my flying area is tight due to the power lines and the small area i have.. dont critisize..

http://s252.photobucket.com/albums/hh35/sheerider1026/?action=view¤t=MOV00181.flv

battery was getting weak at the end.. i was flying for a while on the pack before she came out with the camera.. lol.. i love my zippy flightmax packs.. cheap and powerful..

Xheli has those CNC head and tail combos, I guess they're pretty good because I know a guy who bought it to put on a Legend 450.....might want to try that, you can buy the CNC tail shipped for about $19.00.

well. the part that breaks is the mount where it clamps to the boom.. i ordered the ALIGN part to replace it... never heard of any problems with the align tail.. should take care of it.. plus its still that purdy blue color.. i am running a cheap tail servo from hobbycity on it and loving it... its the mks ds480.. very fast!!! it outperforms my futaba 9650 i had on it before.. it was 24 bucks i think.. can't beat that..

Today, I was doing some nose in and whatnot in the front yard. On the 4th flight, I heard a squal that I've heard before and thought it was the main shaft bearing. Well, turned out that the lower bearing in the motor completely blew out. The motor was a Danlion I got from Rusty about 2 years ago...it held up well for a LONG time, I think I got my money worth there.
I'll have to check on 9650's...sound pretty good.

no no.. not 9650's.. the mks ds480 is what you want.. the 480 proved much better than the 9650.. sorry to confuse you.. its a digital servo so be sure to turn the DS switch to ON on your gyro.. noisy little booger but you seen the video, it holds the tail well

LMAO...alrighty then...DS480. The 9650's stick to your brain because I've read so much about them, easy mistake.

I've got that super fast GWS servo on the tail of mine and even though it's not digital it's great! It's a mini and it has a clear case and I can't remember the number but HC has them for like thirteen bucks! So far it is working as well as the 9257 that I stole off of the 450 to put on the 500!
