George...looks like you're putting a lot of time and attention to detail into it. From what I'm seeing, you're going miles beyond the amount of work I put into them. It really looks like I'm gonna be doing a Huey within a month or so. I'm gonna have to TAKE MY TIME and do it perfect...elevated tail and all, no holds barred...gonna be perfect as I can humanly do it. I'm also thinking Fusno fiberglass Ranger fuselage to replace the one I'm running now...but that's another project (LMAO). Keep me posted on the progress of the 58A .

Hey Vic,before ya start to lay down yer loot on that fusano, check this one out.I'm tapped out right now or I would already have one on the way. http://www.century-rc.com/ecs/product_show.asp?p_id=3345&type_id=224&kind_id=526
I made like three orders yesterday for needed supplies etc, including the rare earth magnets (sounds like the name of a band) I need for both the 6 and 58.But next month,,,,,,,,,maybe.
I hope you do the UH-1 project bro, that will be your crowning achivement to date, and there ain't nothing wrong with your last scalers, and thats th' fax jack .I'm interested in how well the elevated tail rotor does.I would LOVE to be able to get a 450 size H-model fuse to do.

Darnnit Chief.....I got 'er bookmarked, I gotta have it. I think a TH-57 in glass would be an awsome unit. I'm gonna fly #38 for a while...aint nothing wrong with it. I'm sure I sold #58, that'll pull me $300 bones right there...more than enough to build the H1 from the ground up...brand new everything (servos, gyro, motor, fuse, elevated tail, EXI-450,etc). Think I'll concentrate on the Huey for now.

You have almost the identical components as I do. Only I have an AR6100e. Started putting mine together today as well. I'm kick'n myself for not buying an extra EXI for $69.00 when they were on. Now they are a hun... smeg.

For mine I'm going to put a dragonFly scale onto this one, from DarthDrk cabins. Having fun

happy fly'n

Xheli has specials all the time, let's keep an eye on them for another EXI sale.

I had the 6200 on my king, so I moved it to the EXI and put a 6100e on it.

Great minds think alike I guess. If you look around for good parts at a good price, this is what you end up with. The motor and Dynam 40A ESC only cost $35 from DX.

Crash, Just a stock build this time.

Ed (darthdrk) doesn't have a D or H model fuse in the 450 size,at least not that I've seen. The one I have is from him,but it's for a 300 size (king II etc.).I was on his site yesterday and all he has for a huey is the c model which I think you'll find is what hightorque copied off of him,and did it in clear plastic instead of the white stuff. If darthdrk is monitoring this thread,he could tell ya'll what he has.And if he is monitoring this thread.....HEY ED,how's about a H-model slick please

LMAO...thanks George, I think you're right. I spent an hour looking for an H...didn't find one, so I do whith whatever I can get.....with elevated tail that is. Think I'm gonna use a bell crank system instead of flex rod to control the tail rotor from the rudder servo. Seems to me the less flexing, the more precise it'll be. As far as the fuse, since I can't get an H mod...don't matter who I get it from since I'll be glassing the interior anyway. It might crack externally a little....but it won't break. Looks like I'll be needing some of that mould makers layout spray on wax.

George...just like the days of old....I'll work with whatever I can get my hands on. Ever sharpen a welding rod down to a needle point and bend it in several directions to clear a drain hole so you could clear the excess static leak hydralic fluid accumulation in a TIGHT area (LMAO). Seems we NEVER had the proper tools to do a job.

Wind is down, took #38 out for a cruise around the front yard. It got in the sun, I couldn't see it but I didn't get rattled. I pushed the stick forward a little, and it popped into sight, made the save uneventfully. I was a little nervous, but it was OK. When it come into view, it was a fast right oblique slide with the tail heavy right....it wanted to CRASH, I didn't let it (LMAO).

follow up...did 2 more flights...pretty laid back flying. The sun was completely blocked by clouds, wind was 1-2 mph throwing in a few breezes of 3-4 mph, nothing severe at all.

I've done the huey, first time scale, but I really want to do the DragonFly of Darth's. I am thinking of using car shocks on the rear wheels to give it a little bounce than a solid thump. Halfway thru putting things together on the EXI and enjoying it. Definately going to kep my eye on Xheli for another barebones like these. I'm enjoying the assembly almost as much as the fly'n... well almost equal.

Gotta go do some work now.... cheers

What's great about the EXI-450 is, they do a GOOD job at the assembly plant, makes it a breeze to assemble out of the box. Great flying day guys, flew out all my batteries....now charging. Maybe tomorrow will bring another perfect day.

The biggest pain in the arze is installing the servos. I may have been doing it wrong but I had to undo most of the screws in the front of the heli in order to get the two front servos mounted. This is a pain.. Is there an easier way???

LMAO.....oh yeah there is. Install the servo normally, put the screws in BACKWARDS (point facing outside the frame), then use the supplied plastic anchor nuts on the outside, screwing them on from through the frame....I didn't have to disassemble anything. Hold the anchor nuts with a small pair of pliers as you screw it down. You can reach the heads of the screws through the frame easily....just make sure you route the wires before screwing the servos in place (I hope you understand that).

I did it this way with the nuts to the outside of the frame. The problem I had was getting the servo into the frame. The sg90's I have wouldn't just slide in, I had to spread the frame a little to get them into the frame. The rear servos no trouble because its on the outside. Maybe I should have used smaller servos.

Anyrate... they are all in and just hook'n up the Rx... then setup.

Its the way I fly

Question now. The servos are opposite the K2's with the two swash servos at fron and one in rear. So how do I connect the sevors to the Rx, what gets reversed etc etc... I have started the programming on my DX6i but when I put servos the same as my K2 I get different cyclic movements than the K2, which I thought I might. So moved things around and can't get it right. Also one servo in the front only operates half of what it should. It will move full up/down but when I do left/right stick the servo in question doesn't move and the other side does. I know this isn't normal because if I give say right and climb stick the left and ear servo move the swash up and does the turn but the left servo still doesn't move.

So any help would be appreciated. thx

soon to be happy fly'n

Ahhhhhh....welcome to my world (LMAO). OK....first, elevator is elevator (the rear servo of course). This is the part that can take 2 minuets, or two days (LMAO). One servo is dedicated as aileron, the other is pitch...just like the HBKII except reversed in the physical location of the servos. Make sure your motor is unplugged. The only thing I can tell you is that you're gonna have to switch the aileron and pitch servos between aux and aileron on the RX. The first thing you wanna establish is that when you increase throttle, all the servos move in the same direction, the elevator down causes the elevator servo to push up and the two front servos to pull down. Establish collective first....then go after the ailerons and elevator.....it's tough, and it takes time, but you just have to do servo reversing and what not till you hit it. Best I can offer. It took me two days to nail it on the MX-400, 2 minuets to nail it on the EXI-450, and they're exactly the same.

Ok... seems I have some more playing around with it yet. Shouldn't be toooo hard if I can kick some grey matter into gear. Was hoping to get someone that would say do this, do that and I would robot it and be fly'n in an hour... I HATE when I have to work at something... LOL

Thx for the input anyway... I had cyclic control at one point the it got dark outside, I got scared and dropped everything to go feed my face... today well thats another story.

happy hover'n and whirling stuff

Mine was...shoot and miss, $hit at and hit till I got it. You're running DX6i, I'm running DX7, and there's most likely TWO ways to do it and it'll work correctly for you, so at least you got that odd in your favor a little. I don't know how many wrong ways, but I do know there are two ways that will work correctly, one is just opposite of the other when you reverse the pitch and aileron servos on the RX.....no, it's not an easy "this is what you do", and it's done. As a rule...I get all servos to push up at the same time when I increase throttle, and worry about the other stuff later, and it seems to be a logical step that works well.
