Good morning guys,

I would like to know if a model of Churchill would interest you ? A friend of mine is building his (as the Crocodile version) and he plans to put it in production. To help him knowing how many he could build, I am posting here to ask you how many of you would buy one ?

There would be three versions :

- Built model with HL stuff inside (price range : 500 to 600 euro)
- Built model with wheels/suspensions without sprockets, idlers and electronics ( about 350 euro)
- Built hull only (about 200 euro)

The prices are subject to change as they are just approximation for you.

Here are few photos of the beast :

Cheers.

these photos are the lastest ones of the model (prototype I'd say...in fact it is his own model, testing his building technics to get the best results and to ease the production)
I'll keep you informed.
The goal of this thread is to know the possible interest. More infos will of course follow if the feedback is good.

FYI his next model will be a Cromwell.

For the moment he plans to use HL tracks (I am already seeing some of you jumping from your seat ). Moulding would be a possibility too. I'd love to see accurate tracks.

Very nice work. I'd be interested, but it's still a bit pricy....OK I admire and understand the vast amount of work involved, especially for the Croc, but I'd have to wait 'til the cost came down a bit. Cromwell sounds very interesting.

Thanks for answers. I'm very proud to participate our forum. I will try to explain me in english as well as possible.
To make easy I use to install tiger tracks, because all of us can buy if there are broken.
An other solution : the metal panther tracks due to the dimensions, but the churchill need a more longer track, so it will cost more money.
The churchill advantage is that the tracks are hide.
Into the future I will try to mould to make it more real.
But if someone is able to realise a real track, may be we will make a deal. Why not?
If I propose the churchill without mechanics and electronics, is that everybody can take is HL model to equipate himself.
Others preferes put tiger metal tracks. So for me it's difficult to choose one or another solution.
That why i propose the empty churchill for those who are able to create the wheels/suspensions.
Hope you can help me.

it'd be pricy if a company like HL that mass produces asked this range of prices...but thats no HL. Completely handmade, small production...
Like Einstein said, it's all relative
Write that you would not spend that for a handmade Churchill ok but please do not write it is VERY pricy.

Sure, a Churchill is wanted but yeah, $800+ USD (or $1000+ AUD) is a lot for something with HL guts and tracks... just being honest here.

This work took me more than 30 days working after my work and is not ended. If ou are not interested by HL mechanics, I prefere because I don't need to BUY it for you, so it's less expensive. You can put inside what you want even tamiya electronics.
If the EURO change it's more expensive for you , is not my fault

This is a great looking tank and i can see alot of time and effort has gone into it, but i do have to agree it does seem pricey, if i was going to spend that sort of money i would want much better electronics than HengLong.

Hello! Thank you so much for sharing your awesome work! A Churchill would be a great tank for everyones collection. Please don't be offended by the remarks about the projected costs of your fine work, this just isn't the place to get too many possible comments because most people here don't have deep pockets or recognize that not all tanks are as cheap in price as a Heng Long.

Those RTR's have pretty much spoiled the market.

I would welcome you to show off your work here http://rctankhq.com/THQ/ where you'll get more positive remarks and encouragement.

Jeff

In this world, there is a simple concept.
You want something, then look if it is available
It is available, then buy it if you have the money.

I do not think this is the place for a debate of this kind : pricy or not pricy, cheap or not cheap, fair or not fair.
The debate is much simpler, you'd buy one or not.

All over the forums, people are crying that they want a new model to be released that is different from the too-much-known Tigers, an opponent for their panzer...Etc...And when an artisan decides to spend his time and energy to release something original, I read people whining...
I do not throw away the freedom of speech...everyone is free to write what they want....but sorry, I keep the right to be surprised (and disappointed)

Guys...you already want Flamme to give up ??

My 2 cents (of euro)

Hi Flamme, welcome to the forum.

First, great job on the Churchill. Very nice detail, and it looks like a lot of long nights have gone into it.

Second, it is a case of supply and demand. If you build the only 1/16 scale Churchill on the market, you will have people who will pay an extrordinary amount for it. However; the lower the cost, the more that will sell. I do not see anything wrong with your price, especially considering the amount of effort, then the cost of start up you are investing. If Franklin Mint can sell a diecast car for $200 that is only worth $75 at the most, in comparison you have a very low and reasonable price.

Third, I think you should finish your prototype then contact Heng Long and sell them the rights to it. They can plug out a ton of them at their usual low price (far lower than you could ever hope to sell at), you make a nice chunk of money for the rights, and even have the satisfaction of adding a desirable and unique piece of historical modelry to a lot of collectors.

Finally, I'm not interested in getting a Churchill. I just have never liked it, I like the Axis and American tanks. I don't even like the Russian tanks. Please don't hate me folks, I just have my preferences....

Fantastic job on the body so far. Even my wife likes it- she says "it's cute". I've already beaten her for that on your behalf <kidding>
