Hello,

I am interested in either the C-160 or Mosquito, I see that both planes require 2 x .25-32 size engines....

Can I fit 2 x .46FX on them and expect a good performance??? or they are going to be just too heavy for those planes????

Thanks

You could get away with it, but why?

Two good .32 engines would provide more than ample power the plane...

The plane is rated for .25-.32 engines, of median power, so a set of newer ( more powerful ) .32's should do fine...

With 2 .46FX's you would merely need to move the battery back into the fuse.

because I already have 2 spare .46FX......

Could you please suggest me the brand of .32 engines???? I really do not a lot about those sizes-performance....

thanks a lot....

P.S. If I use the .46, if I put some weight at the back of the plane in order to have it balanced with the extra weight of the .46... do you think it will perform great???? or better to get the .32????

The FX .46 produces less power than say an AX .46, and they are a bit smaller too.

Since you already have the engines, just make sure that you can get them maxing out at about the same RPM's then put them on the plane...

As far as weight, put an extension on your battery pack and move it back in the fuselage, behind the canopy - IF - you have to, to balance the plane.

I'll bet you will not have to move the battery too much to achive the recommended C.G.

Again, why over-power your planes? They are designed to fly within the range that the manufacture states. Would you put a 91 engine in a 30 size heli, same effect!

He already has the engines, and they are both the lower output FX series, so he should be OK... plenty of power but not enough to rip the firewall out!

exactly, I already have the 2 spare .46fx... and I have 0 .25-32 engine

I was concerned about the weight.... because for the power, I guess that if they are TOO powerful, I can just limit them to fly at 30-40% throttle........

can it be possible????

Yes go ahead.

They will NOT be too heavy, nor will they overpower the plane by a wide margin.

Just be prepared to move the battery pack to adjust the C.G.

Another question guys.....

do you think that for these planes (.25-.32) the OS .25 FX is a good choice???? or I would be better getting something bigger than a .25????? I have read very good comments about the power of the FX...

Compared to more modern engines, the FX series is a little lighter on power.

That said it is vastly more powerful than the LA series planes.

The .25 would work, but the plane will not have vast amounts of power for verticals.

thanks a lot for your help...... and I am sorry asking again.....

Now I have another option, a friend of mine is offering me for free his .36NT and I would buy just another one in order to use them both.....

Would the Evolution .36NT engines would work better for the mosquito and c-160?????

Ugh I would avoid mixing a used engine with a new one.

You want two somewhat identical engines of the same vintage.

That way wear, compression and power will be about equal.

ahhhh, hehe, my friend bought a little plane and it came with it (brand new).... it flew 4-5 tanks and crashed and destroyed the plane, engine is intact, since then (about 4months ago) he hasn't used it again
I believe it's pretty close to brand new...

but what do you think about the power??? .36 for a .25-.32????
