Nice, but edit the pics to make 'The Unofficial Outboard FE Tunnel Thread' remain without moving the mouse control sideways. I hate computers remember.

Scott,

excellent thought. already ordered the bullet connectors and that is a great idea, perfect!!!!

Peter,

I know they may fail as , but being push/pull there is a fail safe if one falls off. We'll see how it works as is, but not my dream connection. I may also convert to the clevis pins and epoxy them to the arms. For now, this'll do. Thank God the snow storm missed us totally yesterday. had an 80 mile drive into NYC yesterday for an engagement party.

Now that motor is not here, going to play around today building an outboard motor cover. Need almost 1/4" spacer between motor and mount, so will epoxy two 1'8" plywood pieces together as a spacer. The bottom one will serve as as the bottom of the motor cover. Will balsa up the engine cover and make it two adjoining pieces that the top will be teped to bottom, for easy removal to check temps and also be watertight

Mercury outboard mini model stickers. Anyone know where you can get some? Made outboard cover that only needs two 2-3 inch mercury stickers for sides and 300 for rear of OB.

Hi scott, (ozzie-crawl)

Is that a scorpion outrunner mounted on your boat? Don't you worry about water getting into the motor? I was thinking of puttin an outrunner on my tunnel, but scratched the idea, being afraid the water would ruin the motor. But seeing your pictures make me want to to it anyway.

yes it is a scorpion out runner, fresh water wont hurt a motor,at the end of a day running or if flipped just flush with wd40 or similiar.

Pooch,
I just made up some decals for my old Kyosho Dolphin.  They are for a Mercury 44XS stock outboard, but could likely be altered to make pretty much anything that used that style decal from the 1990s.

here is semi-finished outboard cover. The bottom is plywood with a spacer that will be lightly sanded in order to make motor coupler align perfectly with flex shaft with no gaps or binding. Once motor arrives, will make it so that motor can be easily replaced in case of water damage or major crash that blows box up. The holes for the cooling tubes and esc connectors will be figured out once motor arrives, but will be able to easily disconnect these for motor removal. Motor and other stuff were delivered to wrong PO Box and recipient never brought it back to post office. Will be checking e-bay to see if merchandise is on sale and let seller know that that is a crime. ammo motor, aluminum servo mount, octura 444/3 prop, and bullet connectors. Aargh.... Getting so anxious, that I may take same ammo motor out of SV27 to fit all the stuff. Oh, and rest of motor cover (3sides) is basswood and bending side is very thin ply 1/32 inch i think, and a layer of thin fiberglass epoxied all around all 4 sides

Looks great Chip. I was going to say, I thought you would have had your motor by now? As I read on through your post, I knew you were going to say it went awol. Arghh that is bad luck, happened to me once waiting on a critical part.

yep Peter,

Seller is snowed in too the last week in Pennsylvania and asked him to ship new ones and let him fight with the Postal Service, but I assume he's trying to see what he can do with the shipment being un-insured and if he can revcover any lost $. Still not at post office today either. If it was lost, so be it, but if it was delivered to someone else with my name on it, then may they go to hell for not returning it to the proper owner, me or the seller. I hate the fact that people keep stuff that is not theirs and do not try to return. And they think it is not stealing?

Got same motor in SV27 and staring at it wanting to take it out to cut holes in engine cover and wire her up, but it is perfectly balanced with prop shaft so will bite me ole tongue and sit tight

I remember your shuttle tunnel. I like the power trim. Is that the Graupner unit? We were only looking at a power trim unit the other day.

Still no motor or servo mount......

new outboard linkage setup installed. Decided to do away with ball and joint mounts on engine, and add a different system. soldered on threaded couplers and using clevis pin links instead. Prefit pics. Will silicone in two 1/2" long silicone cooling tubing lines with plastic inserts that run through transom to both sides, in and out. One will connect motor water pickup from motor plate and into box and sec then out to motor cooling system, and then out thru motor for discharge. Epoxied in a 3/16" brass tub in motor cover pointing down and out of bottom of cover for water exit from system..

Your doing a great job Chip. What's going on with the motor? Is the seller sending another? I am glad you swapped over from the ball joint connectors.
Anyway, hope you get your motor asap.
All going well, we may get a run this week of the tunnels.

Hey Peter, Good News!

I wanted the parts too bad as I'm just staring at the boat now, so I placed a new order 2 days ago for the same parts from kintecracing.com, and paid for it so as to not put the seller, Jan, on the line as it was his fault or his post offices fault. It was my local post office's fault. Good news, or bad depending on how you take it, the seller is now shipping all products with or without insurance which can cost extra. The post office said unless the seller had insurance on the package, he was **** out of luck, which means , I was **** out of luck and had to file a claim. So I did. I figured, in hopes the old order finally shows up, that I would get reimbursed for old order from seller. I filed an online claim this am after talkign witht e postal guy and filed it federally with the national postal service. Our local post office is a shame and they are awful!!

Guess What? I just got an e-mail from the local postmaster that the person who got my delivery returned it today finally. Apparently they only come to post office once or twice a month. Also interesting that when I file a claim the goods show up. Something fishy goin on here, but I got my goods and will get in am. Oh well. Play time tomorrow in final fitting. On the new order, I took the liberty and got a few more props to play with. Prather 220/2 and octura 440/3. If they heat this boat up to much, I can use in the SV27.

Struth mate, the dramas! Once an insured and registered r/c boat item of mine went missing. I too enquired at my local P.O. and they could not find s**t. I said what does that tracking number mean and why have I paid for insurance? That stupified the moron and he couldn't answer my question. I was so angry. Nearly every day, I'd call them and ask about my parcel and STILL no idea. After 2 weeks I gave up and lost all faith in Australia Post. I called their hq's and told them off in every rude way I could think of. 2 minutes later my phone rang and it was a P.O. 5 suburbs away from mine. Said we have a parcel for you! So in the end, I finally got it. Insurance, tracking numbers whatever mean absolute squat for Aus Post. If I filed a claim, they would more than likely loose that too, with tracking number and insurance. They were confused with Petersham & St Peters? Mind boggling stuff, don't you think?
The people that returned your goodies may have been Ma & Pa Kettle types. I have an aunt that only goes to town 2 or 3 times a month. She does live on a billion acres though. Take her 3 day to go down the driveway, driving.

It will be good to see pics of your pride & joy tunnel completed. Are you going to sharpen those props you ordered?

See ya
Peter

Good man. Sounds like your near ready to go, except for the snow of course. You should be impressed with yourself building your FE tunnel. I love the builds more than driving by about 1% - 51/49.
When you get the chance to first drive it, take it easy and only run for a minute or so then bring it back in. This will probably be a hassle in the beginning, taking the canopy & lid(s) on/off, retaping etc. But, best to be safe. Make sure everything is happy, then you can run as fast as you dare. When you see your TS2 riding a cushion of air, rock solid, no bouncin' and walkin' sideways, you have got it. Jeez man, I am getting excited now for ya!!!
SNOW be gone.

Peter

I am pumped peter. This is the same boat that I trashed the nitro os.21 engine on (too much saltwater, not enough care). On the very last run I had it flying at WOT engine slightly trimmed up with bushing approx 3 degrees up and 30% nitro mix fuel on a straightaway.

It was humming along perfectly with slight chop, and I knew I was toeing the line, and thenl, WWWWWOOOOOFFFFFFFF, the back blowover. Wish I had a video as I was with a friend and we were both staring at it in perfect conditions (slight chop) water flying and saying "oh my god she's super fast fast" then it took of 6-8 feet in air backwards and landed upside down. Nothing broke and we were laughing and saying "why didn't we bring the video camera?"

FYI, I bought an ocean kayak to use as a recovery craft (plus for fishing and hunting) for freshwater and a roof rack for my jeep. No excuse for not running freshwater. Salt is too easy for me as I drive to the bay go on my power boat and launch. Oh well. Too much money to run in saltwater to ruin now.

Chip
