Mark,

Having read all of your 188 useless posts I think I have a point to make to you.

You shouldn't get a helicopter.

Not yet, anyway. A helicopter in the wrong hands, be it nitro or electric, is easily capable of killing someone. I don't think you're ready to accept that responsbility, and therefore I don't think you're ready for a helicopter.

Of course, I have no doubt that you're going to tell me to shut up and mind my own business and that you weren't asking for my help, but then how many people are you going to say that to? If you keep saying it, you'll soon run out of people...

Remember, put brain into gear before taking handbrake off mouth.

Mark, can't you read?

He lives near you, offered to help you, and offered to let you fly a heli to see if you like it. Your responce was, "well then, what heli should I buy"

Another offered to help you, no strings attatched, your responce was "You live in NJ".

Another gave you a number of an officer of the club with the closest flying field to you, your responce was "how do I get there?"

If you read this, think about what you should have said. Your responces should have been something like,

I would love to come see your stuff and learn all I can about RC, when can we meet, and on the second one, you should have said, that is a great offer, when can we meet or how do I get to you so you don't have to go out of your way.

On the third you should have said something like, Thank you for taking the time to look that number up for me, I will call him tonight and find out how I can get there to learn as much as I can.

Seems to me you really don't read the posts if they don't tell you exactly what you want to hear. I don't know why I am wasting my time writing this, but the other guys will probably agree and it is getting ludicrist enough to be funny.

You should consider another hobby. Like I said in the note I sent you weeks ago, if you can't read and listen, you can kill yourself or someone else very easy in this hobby. If your not willing to even go look at what an RC heli is from people that do them, gas or electric, it doesn't matter, maybe you are looking into the wrong hobby. I hear knitting is fun, maybe you should try it.

You don't need to be sorry, you need to go to the model field and see what actually happens if you want to fly RC. There is a lot that goes on that you don't understand. It is a fun hobby. Go check it out. You have the info to get you to the field. Noone is going to come get you.

I know, it is pretty bad. I really hate to see someone that wants to do it get discouraged, but I am at the end of my ropes. I will go help someone that wants the help. Been trying to help this one since the beginning of April. I taught my friend how to fly a helicopter in less time than that, and we remodeled his house at the same time. That was a lot less frusterating.

Oh well, still think it is an experiment in frustration. Unfortunately, we are the suckers in the cage.

Right. So if you haven't got a helicopter yet, why did you even start this thread? It would be a bit silly for someone to come to you to help you set up a helicopter that you don't have yet.

Also, if you're having to sell your computer to buy a helicopter, what are you going to sell to buy the parts when you crash it?

Okay, that's fair enough.

The trick now, is to find your local flying field. Once you know where it is, work out how to get yourself there. Once you've done /that/ just watch for a while, and *then* ask questions. You'll find that people will be more than happy to help you out, but you have to go to them. Here in the UK we have an association called the BMFA (British Model Flying Association) who have a list of all the clubs and flying fields in the UK. I don't know if there's something similar in America, but I'd be surprised if there isn't.

The only other thing I'd say is, don't underestimate the price of replacement parts. You could find yourself spending at least as much as the cost of the helicopter again by the time you've had a few "unscheduled arrivals".

Mark

You got two offers of help and one contact for an RC club near you. It sounds to me like you have what you need. Time to go out and see how its done! Enjoy it.
