Hi all, Have a Sikk 25.4cc engine and would like to know what steps can be taken to hot up these engines. Currently running a walbro wt-771 carby. Is there things that can be done at home in a shed apart from sending it to someone that can help make it run harder?

file .030" off the bottom of the piston skirt on the intake side, this will raise the intake timing to 150 deg... you can shave up to .040" off but try .030 first, 155 deg is about max before starting gets cranky

do a search for sikk mods

I never heard of that guy, he has good feed back though. Personally I would rather spend my money to get someone to do it locally. Daniel Schafer (OMEN Engines) mods Zenoahs and has good prices, contact him and see what he says.
The biggest concern is Sikks have a big variance in their squish clearance, this kit might be ok for one with a big squish and too tight for one with a tight squish. Without measuring YOUR engine who knows if it will be good or not?

I have three CY 25.4 engines and have managed to keep them all running well. With the two bolt head they are really not a good engine to modify much. On the two that I modded I just lightened the piston, made some small eyebrow cuts and smoothed out the transfers. If you do much more you will crack the jug near one of the head bolts. The most important mod is to replace the base gasket with the blue zenoah one or get a 0.020 copper one. Also make sure you have your pipe supported very well or the jug will crack under the exhaust port.
