Hi.

I just want to know if this battery:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Integy-EP3000-7-2V-6-Cell-NiMH-Stick-Pack_W0QQitemZ170264256106QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item170264256106&_trkparms=72%3A1205|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

works/fits with the Losi 1/10 Slider RTR:

http://www.losi.com/Products/Features.aspx?ProdID=LOSB0290

and if the battery fits with this charger:

B6 Cells Li-Po NiMH LiCd RC Battery Digital Lcd Charger

http://cgi.ebay.com/B6-Cells-Li-Po-NiMH-LiCd-RC-Battery-Digital-Lcd-Charger_W0QQitemZ270277769935QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item270277769935&_trkparms=39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A3|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Thank you.

i personally like the late model over the slider but i think your gonna get your money worths

but i would suggest going lipo instead of haveing the hassle of NiMH

yes, but it say that I need optional parts to put in a lipo battery.

Needed to Complete

To complete the 1/10 Slider you will need...

1. An approved battery pack. The 1/10 Slider will accommodate a 6-cell NiMH flat pack, a 2-cell LiPo battery pack or a 3-cell LiPo battery (2- and 3-cell LiPo packs require optional electronics).

2. A battery charger.

what do you think I need of optional electronics? would it be hard to place in the slider?

and what kind of battery would you suggest?

I am thinking of buying this batttery: is it any good?

Lipo 4000HV 3S 11.1V Pack

http://www.maxamps.com/proddetail.php?prod=Lipo-4000-111-Pack-T&cat=183

or should I go for a battery like this?

http://www.maxamps.com/proddetail.php?prod=Lipo-5000-111-Pack-T&cat=183

but should I add an extra plug to the battery I buy?

would you recomend to add extra skin, balancing taps, wire or should I let everything stand on standard?

and what kind of charger should i choose?

I would prefer the charger to come from the same site.

We just receivedour shipment they look really cool, but I had planned to use a Trinity 4500mah 2s lipo in them until I read the manual and for this on page 3 . . . .

• Do not attempt to use 2 or 3-cell LiPo or 7-cells NiMH;
doing so will damage the ESC and could result in fire.

I have never seen this before, I am aware of li-po cutoff issues. Does anyone have anything on this or is losi just covering their rear or have they done something to the esc to mhis happen in order to assure brushless system sales ?

The ESC in it cannot handle Lipo as although the actual resting voltage of lipo is only .2 of a volt more than Nimh, when under load that gap increases drastically, so an ESC that can use 7.2 volt nimh packs but not 7 cell nimh is unlikely to be able to handle 2 cell lipo either. Say for an example a fully charged nimh 6 cell pack reads 9 volts off the charger, in the car at rest it sits at 8.0 volts but under load (say under hard acceleration or braking, where the esc and motor are under most strain) this drops down to 6.8 volts average over a 10 minute run. The Lipo comes off the charger at 8.4 volts, sits at 8.4 volts and manages an average voltage of 7.8 over a 10 minute run, you can see that the electronics have taken a far more severe battering from the 2 cell lipo than the 6 cell nimh.

I guess the Slider ESC is happy on 6 cells but not 7 cell packs or lipos.

Dont get Maxamps batteries. they are way overpriced and dont preform all that good. I would get a Orion 3800 or Trakpower 4900.

Thanks for tech tip lilredmachine. . . . We tried and it definitly will not work the esc thermals in just a couple minutes even dropped the pinion size down to an 18t and still not luck esc hit thermal shutdown with the motor just at 100 degrees. As far as batteries I sell max amps for many large mah apps and hv set ups and they are good though pricey the service is 2nd to none and quality is overall good. For 2 cell 7.4v apps I sell the trinity 4500mah a great battery in a hard case with the cutoff built in for a very reasonable price.
Just my 2 cents .

John
