where's the brakes?

In case you haven't thought about it already, I'd recommend putting the brakes on the front. So leave the front dogbones and diff assembly in place so that you can mount the brake disc to the diff input.

THEN you can lock up the front (well, if you have a 3-channel radio) and light up the rear! wooooooo!

Brakes?!?!?!? Ummmmm.... brakes........? Yeah, I could use some brakes... 8-)
I actually thought about using the front diff for brakes also. That will be the next thing after the front steering assembly.

have you already planned everything out or are you going one thing at a time?

cant wait to see a video! but when you do make the video make sure to go all the around the truck so we can see all of your handy work.

One thing at a time. No problem, I will do a spin around the truck before she gets dirty.
Thanks guys.

Just got the steering assembly finished. The only thing left for steering is some clevis' .
I don't have any longer rods to fit the screw-on clevis' that I have. Gotta go to the LHS in the morning.
The next to final stage is the fitting of the fuel cells. I'm trying to have one on each side. I am using the fuel cells from the 1/16 kits. I think they are about 50cc each?????? Which would give me plenty(100cc) of fuel for ripping some mud. I also have to get me some tees so I can tie each tank to each other. OK, scratch the dual tanks...not enough room on this chassis. The next one will be about 2"-3" longer so I can use one fuel cell.
I also got the fuel cell mounted.
Silly me, I had to pull the engine back out to put the clutch shoes and springs in.... I must have gotten in a hurry...

Well.... I fired it up this afternoon and it ran pretty darn good. But it didn't run long!
I sheared the rear input shaft gear!!!!
I made a 10 foot(kinda muddy) dirt section in my back yard and the first 2 or 3 runs were good. This engine is running very rich as you can tell from the smoke!
On the last run, well......... it probably went 4 or 5 feet and the rear end gave up.....
Good thing I have a spare from the front end gearbox! I wonder if they make the metal ones for the tremors???
Editing video right now. Will be up later...

Here is a picture of a good(top) input shaft and the one I just pulled out(bottom):
I did notice they have a washer shim on the backside of the gear. I wonder if there was not enough gear mesh that caused this.....
I will try with two shims and see if the gears are meshed too tight.

Yes, she is mean as a snake!
Actually, that is oil. I use Traxxas Top Fuel and it has alot of oil in it. I am on the very rich side. I did noticed when I was running these engines with a prop that this one likes to load up and start spitting fuel and mostly oil out the front bearing. But she still runs like a beast and smokes more than I do. LOL! That is why she almost died on that one run. She was LOADED!!! I tried to lean her out but she doesn't like it much. I haven't had much time to get her tuned properly. I almost ran down my battery trying to start her because this baby has some major compression.
I have the rear end pulled apart and doing some major cleaning. I will paint the chassis tommorrow. What color would look the best? Please input!

I love making things. That is another hobby of mine....metal working....
I bought these two new engines off epay about 5 months ago cheap and I finally got the tools to do the job. I know I could have just bought a RTM kit, but that isn't the same as building your own to your specs. Even though I did use parts from a RTM kit........It just wouldn't been the same....

Thanks man!
I just wished she would have held up a little longer! I'm thinking there was too much space between the diff and the input shaft. I will shim it some more and see if that will hold.
She will be fun in the snow! But here in arkansas, snow is almost extinct.

I watched the videos again after i sent that last one and noticed that it was a little to thick to be just fuel, so may bad.

With the color of it personally i wouldn't
