I was going to buy a P40 from Hanger 9 but it no longer shows up on there web site. Who else makes a 60 P40?

wingspam,
if you like to build. topflight has a 60 size kit. otherwise cmp/nitro models has a couple, even one that looks like a hanger nine clone.
ther is also one listed as coming soon on hobby peoples website by blackhorse models which might be a 90 size. not sure. hope this helps. andrew wisc.

It is my understanding thatVQ Warbirds will soon have something other than the black checkertail, but don't quote me on that....

Something to know about the VQ is the finish is not fuel proof! I purchased the black and red P-40 and its now a black and pink P-40. This model flies well but leaves alot to be desired in the quality department. Its heavy (9.2 pounds) and this finish is disappointing after just a few flights.

I have the VQ P-40 as well. I do not have the blck checkerboard tail version though. I have the British dessert scheme, but painted it OD green. The stock covereing is fine and is not an issue..... at least with mine...as I did not paint the bottom surfaces.
It flies exceptionally well and behaves well too. Any 60 size warbird is going to weigh in the 8-10 pound range, so this P-40 is not heavy at 9 pounds or so.

Im runnign a satio 100 with a 13x8x3 MAS prop and its pretty fast. I alos used CJM rotating air retracts.
Its by far a much better plane the the H9 P-40 or the various p-40 iterations found on nitroplanes.

I like the look of the Top flite best, it is just the most accurate looking of the bunch.
CMP can look good with Mods.

Tahusvedt has a neat thread on Modifying a CMP P-40 which is really spectacular.

You can find the hangar9 aircraft at some hobby stores still. Just call and look around, I know you can find one somewhere.

There is one in Greeley, CO at Things with Wings. Sicen the P-40 has such a deep cowl, it might be even possible to fit a saito 200TI in one. I could that with a H9 Spitfire if the firewall box was removed and the bulkhead reinforced. Hmmmmm....sounds like an Idea!!

we will HAVE VQ P-40 available again in the AVG "FLYING TIGER" COLORS as well as BRITISH DESERT CAMO and US ARMY SEA GREEN....

hope to see them in early OCTOBER...

if you clean the covering after use with 50% diluted windex or similar I have found that the covering holds up very well...

My personal use shows that the covering like other types need to be sealed around the firewall, Leading edge and even tail where ever the fuel exhaust will sit and perhaps soaks in...

The covering is great to paint over if you enjoy to add custom colors...

If I paint over one, what would be best, steel wool or 600 - 800 grit sandpaper to prep the surface?
Thanks
