Ho, Ho, some more testing done??
Thanks Pe for thinking of me for a 80, but when our new toy arrived there was a box in it labeled MVVS 80
so I have just got one of course with no manual. So the test results from you and JANCH is very interesting.

OK, here are the final results:
Lube MVVS oil (mobil1, red, 1:25), Fuel 98 RON (premium 93 PON), Prop 24x10x3 Mejzlik. Exhaust Header 14â€, outer dia 28mm.
TD 75KK, shortened, 6390, 7.7hp
TD75K, 6460, 8.0 hp
3204 mvvs,6350, 7.6 hp
TD110 6450, 7.9 hp
TD75,6420, 7.8 hp
MTW T3 tuned pipe 7000 rising to 7100, 11.0 hp

MVVS reported 10 hp on their new design canister muffler, still in testing phase. JANCH has one of the prototypes on his plane. Maybe he can comment on final rpm.

The fact that the TD75K turns faster than the TD75 leads to the assumption that the header pipe is too long for these mufflers (the TD has a longer inner section of pipe as compared to TD-K)
The TD75KK is shortened to even shorter total length to try how it would run. Penalty in power is not too high, and the muffler has excellent muffling and power response. First chamber volume (403cc) is only 5x engine displacement. No signs of sagging in power, so thermal load on the engine is OK.

Hi to all pilots,

We made test with different propellers.

JAS 26/9 6 900 rpm
JAS 27/10 6 340
Bambula 26/10 6 230
Mejzlik 27/10TH 6 210
Mejzlik 26/10 6 610

Ignition plug and play. I did not change preignition /advance fire /

We had very low temperature only + 10 degrees Celsius

Thank you very much Jan
MVVS seems to have a winner with their int 80 muffler.
I calculated 8.5 to 9.1 hp over the whole range from 6250 to 6900 rpm

I have be patient because my engine is still in break-in period. I think after break-in I will add same % on power.
Very important are conditions - humidity, temperature etc.
You can see here 2nd aplication

Hi Pe and Janch what is the length from the drive washer to the end of RE3 pipe or canister.
I would like the 80 with pipe in our Krill SU-29-33% but I'm not sure it will fit.
I'm also a little concerned about vibrations. I surely have to reinforce the firewall because
its only a big flat ply. Its our first big single, only had big twins before.

Lennart,
The tuned pipe dimensions for MTW RE3 (in stock )are on my web page. A lot depends on how you configure the header.
I ran the engine with 350mm header length ( 14" ), Response was crisp and typical for a header that is too long, which is what is best for aerobatics. With that setup, I had 11 hp at 7100 rpm. These horses mainly are available for accelerating the prop.
The way you bend that 350mm into shape of course defines your total length. Best solution would be to leave a lot of tunnel length available behind the pipe so you can experiment, and cover it later with clear cote for aerodynamics.

Pe,
didn't you found leaks or doubts in the transition? no "punch" effect at certain rpms?
Is the r3 a double cone type?
Thanks

With the smallish 24x10 prop there were no dead spots whatsoever at the 14"header length combined with the RE3 tuned pipe.
This was not my engine. I ran it for a customer, so I had to be careful. The test stand data, whilst providing a general feel for the engine, are not the same as in a plane where the engine is loaded even less.

MTW pipes are of double cone design.

For full test data, see http://prme.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?t=213

14" header RE3 pipe.
Not soldered yet and no pipe support
Problably building box for engine instead of 70mm long standoffs.

That looks like a nice setup. I hope you do not fit a 24x10x3 prop on it like I did. It rips.

Jan, did you use int58 mufflers or int80. The couplers look like int80, but I know that MVVS needed some time to get the int80 onto market.
I have watched your video a couple of times before. Good takes.
