Interesting, just went to the link for the Thai RC site and they had pictures of my stator section posted (wish I could read their language to see what was said!)!! Although the one I designed is a functional stator and not just a hollow tube, however mine was designed to match the aluminum impellor that I also machined and would not work with the stock impellor. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery they say!!! On a side note my pumps work great, do not cavitate and reprime without having to stop as the stock pumps seem to be afflicted with. One of these days I'll get around to shooting some video and post it.

I think AUM is showing how to turn down the prop. Yes, you want to use a drive dog, and wouldn't need anything on the other side of the shaft as it would go into the stator. It looks like it's thicker (front to back) than a stock impeller - maybe that's the reason for the cool looking aluminum impeller housing.

There has always been a market for replacement (plastic or metal) impellers for this boat. There were some coming out of Tailand last year made of aluminum and they were poorly made. If there was better quality control, and they were balanced, they would sell big time. Maybe different pitches available too! I know I would buy some, for sure.

thanks. I think so with you.
In thailand tera into Jetboat very popular and many user.
I'm sale upgrade racing kit over 100 set and starter kit over 60 set.

Awesome, I'm interested in buying this, what does the kit contain, how much does it cost and do you ship to the UK and for how much?

I forgot how beautiful your work was...trade my middle, ring, and pinky finger off my right hand for it? I need the thumb and index finger to steer still otherwise i'd offer them up as well

Thanks for the comments, If it didn't take so damn long to make the parts and if I had access to cnc stuff I'd consider making a run of these....maybe someday....CNC!! Unfortunatly these parts would be very intolerent of running in creeks, as the tolerences are very tight between the impellor and housing, and sand (and general debris) ingestion would quickly destroy them.

Bjacobsen, it does look like yours on the outside, but like you said, yours is custom with stator enclosed and theirs is an extension for the longer impellers.

AUM: I like the kits. I see you have new shaft/impellers, but I don't like the idea of impellers held by nuts. I'd like to see a drive dog (held by 2 grub screws) on a smooth shaft inserted into the impeller. Then the stator bushing will hold it all together. Maybe my illustration will explain better.

The impellers are not held by nuts, they have an integral setscrew with a matching flat on the shaft, same retention as most drive dogs, but with one less part to deal with, my impellers are also quite a bit finer pitch (.75" per rev as I recall with about a 30 degree overlap) than the stock plastic ones, but this allows me to run a faster motor, 3585kV on 3s lipo...I am pulling about 31 amps, 345 watts, and about 34,000 RPM static in the water (measured 2 1/2 lbs thrust) with no cavitation. The impelllers also extend into the stator housing on these, but mainly so I can hold a close blade tip clearance of about .005", and also to make room for a properly designed stator. These boats are a blast to tinker with!

Extremely nice

If only I could make one so awesome. I can't even if it had the skills, no machines to do it with...
Yours seems professional, I would certainly buy one if I had the offer

I am currently "restoring" a graupner jet sprint, the last owner did ridiculously stupid things; like use screws to hold the jet drive together... Instead of nuts and bolts...
Only because it's more of a collectors item now they are so rare :P

Anyway, do you think these AUM parts will fit a graupner jet sprint?

Bjacobsen, I believe you misunderstood - that part was addressed to AUM. That his impellers are now held to the shaft by nuts, but could do better with a drive dog and set screws on a smooth (unthreaded) shaft. Similar to yours! You two should maybe get together and design the ultimate kit. You already have your first customer. Great job.

Gotcha, Sundogz, and thanks AUM...actually I have a glass hull and molds for a 26" vee hull that eventually I will probably try to build a jet drive for with about a 1" or 1 1/8" dia impeller drive, using some of the stuff I've learned from these, however this will probably have to wait until late summer, too many irons in the fire right now. The hull is a step vee with a delta pad, so I'll have to modify the hull to get rid of the step, as this woln't work with the jet drive, but should be a runner when I get around to it. Also don't have too much time on the NDQ's to see if I'll have any problems with the parts so planning to run them a lot after it thaws out this spring!

Bjacobsen, Seeing your boats with the scoops on the motors reminded me of some parts I had left over from an NQD Arrow Wing rigger mod. I decided to spruce things up a bit. Thanks for the idea!

Lookin' good! That combo (4800kv @7.4V) is the equivalent of a 3200kv motor on 3S. I'll be interested in how long the motor holds up, as there is a good selection oh high kv motors available. There have been mixed reports about reliability of motors on 2S. Good job!

Hi guys, I love this little boat.

I am going to order one tonight!

I really don't feel like scaning through 75 thread pages. Could someone tell me where i can get the upgrades for this thing. I can find the motor, esc and servo, jet need to know where to get the jet drive system, metal plate... Does the mini hobby lobby one fit without a lot of mods?

Thank you

The jet drive comes with the boat.  If you can find motor, esc, and servo, then you've pretty much got everything you need to get started (except lipos).  I'm pretty sure most of the metal plate mods around are homemade.  I haven't changed from the stock grill yet, and haven't managed to suck anything up, even after driving regularly in shallow river water.

What motor/esc/batt combo are you looking at?

I just had heard that people had issues with the drive sytem stock with brushless motors.

Was looking at this set up, but might be too powerfull. I don't want crazy speeds, but faster than stock for sure.

2200 2s lipo (i have a pile of them) on this esc with this motor.

Not sure if it would work or not???

Thanks

The esc is good but you should try to find a slightly lower kv motor I would say.

Hold on, according to Hankinator that motor does good on 2S. It's way too high for 3S, I agree. Time will tell if it will hold up to that treatment.

Energy...I just finished my build and am using the exact same esc, motor and running 2s. Boat rips good. I have only had one pack through it. Seems like a great combination. I will get some more packs through it then report back.

The stock grill didn't make through my first run (@1:19 in the video you can see how I ripped it off). I will post up some pics of what I fabbed up.

Here is the maiden voyage...just last night nqd creek bash

Nothing was warm at all after that run. Of course the water was probably about 40 degrees.

I just finished running two more packs through it. Ran perfectly. The esc and motor were not warm at all.

I think the key to running the high kv motor on 2s is the C rating. You can't starve the esc or motor...thats when things start to fail. The lipos I am running are both 3000mah, one is 35c and the other 40c. I wouldn't want anything bigger in physical size in the rig and these batteries can keep the motor from starving itself so to speak.

Another thing to consider is my cooling system flow. Seems I have quite a bit of flow. Nice 18" tail out the back at full throttle.

I have some more video but need to edit a bit. Will post of when I am able.

Sweet! Glad to hear that set up works well.

I have a bunch or 2s 2200 20C lipos, do you think these would be ok, if i didn't run it full throttle continuosly?

I'd be willing to step up to a bigger lipo if that isn't a good choice.

About jet systems, is the hobby lobby mini jet system better than the stock one? If so, does it fit in this boat ok?

Thanks
