Status: offline 		woooo, what a hoot these boats are!!! 
I just ran mine after rebuilding the jet drive this morning, i.e. pull it all apart and grease it up + clean all crud and rusty bits...

The new plugs are really easy to get on and off, but tight enough to not come off at any point I really like them!
I ran my boat hard for all of the 1300mah 3S battery, nothing but the battery was hot! So I assume the grease did it's job keeping it all lubed and it certainly kept most of the water out. So all up, great start to the morning

Now to figure out where I can run the boat in some "rapids", as we haven't had any rain to talk off over the past 2 months (SE QLD Australia)... I may have to go down to the beach and run it when the tides turn (= lots of current)

Status: offline 		hahaha, yeah, they are not quite this far down... Although, with the ocean temps going up, they are moving down this way... 1 was sighted about 150km north of where I live...

Australia Zoo is in my region, and currently, the only crocks close by, are those that old Steve caught   
Lets hope the fence is being checked regularly... LOL

Status: offline 		LOL, where I live, I'd be more concerned about the bull sharks to be honest

I just finished re-soldering all my 3S batteries, as I'm heading to the Gold Coast this weekend and I'm bringing the jet boat!!

Is there a trick to soldering really thick wire? The nano-tech was just OK to solder, but the even thicker wire on the ESC... I had to cut some of it out, to fit it onto the soldering tab... is that normal??

Sounds like you battery connectors weren't meant for the wire your using.
Sometimes the wire is a little big for me as well, but I have always been able to make it fit/work

Status: offline 		mindful of crocks and bullsharks, I went to the local fresh water creek on my way to work

I can't flaw any of the hardware I've got in the boat now, it just hammers!
The only thing that keeps coming back to bite me, is my soldering... It lasts for a while, but breaks loose from time to time, never the same one either... is that normal? Are the vibrations just a bit too much for it? is it common? is there a fix? (It is pretty annoying when it happens to battery number 1 of 4... )

I'm going to have to invest some time and grab some photos of this thing in action too, but I'm always boating alone, and controlling both seems a task I can't handle... Any tricks other than a tripod and angling the lens right? Some vids look like they have had the camera mounted on the controller?

I think you are experiencing weak cold soldering connections.
you have to make sure you get both the wire and the connector hot enough for the solder to take. The best thing to do now is to clean off all the existing solder and re-do it.
I wish I was near so I could help.

Status: offline 		you will know, it's hot enough when the solder is pulled in by the wire and connector tab.
You should pre-tin your wire, I even pre-tin my connector tab. Then hold them together with something like this little helper in the picture, put a little solder on the soldering iron tip for better conduction, then put the soldering iron on the opposite side of the connector tab that the wire is on. Keep the tip on the tab until the solder on the wire melts and is pulled in by the tab that you are heating. Just after this I cool it down quick with my wet sponge. Just wet, not dripping wet. This is how I make sure my plastic connector doesn't melt and I don't like a lot of heat to creep up the wire to the battery either.

I hope the paint doesn't chip on ya, what kind of environment will you be running your boat in?
My local place is a stony creek = lots of scrape marks, even into the plastic!
 
I think I might have killed one of my LiPo batteries this morning... LOL
I'm not sure if it's the quality of the battery or the fact that I ran it pretty flat... 
Possibly the fact that I'm very trigger happy on the throttle, as in I pulse it like you would with a car/ drift car... The ESC doesn't get hot, obviously, being massive, and the motor is only lukewarm... Opinions?

Thanks mate, Oh i hear ya about the scratches and cracks.... I mainly run in creeks around home, Slaughter falls/The Gap creek. They're getting pretty low at the moment though due no rain. The Sprint isn't actually for me it was a present but due to a missus-understanding somebody actually meant "hydro plane"! Its a shame due to the effort that went into it but it'll have to go..

So whats going on with your lipo fella? Cant charge it?

Status: offline 		Li-po cutoff set properly on the esc?? That Aquastar has auto-detect or set to your cell count and will shut/slow down when minimum voltage reached (3v a cell) unless you have it disabled?? Not sure how else you could kill it unless its a dodgy one?

Status: offline 		Darn, I thought the trx connectors were rated up to 100A  ? Now that I've googled it I find anything from 30-100A. Havent noticed much heat but will keep an eye on them, not sure I want to go through the process of changing everything over!

On a positive note the last 4 batteries put through the jet boat has resulted in a total of maybe a teaspoon of water in the hull after 4 runs (which may of entered through the push rod boot as) so am happy to finally run it without it filling with water!. Now to the other issues....lol

I've added a pic of the battery to my post above I don't think I'd WANT to charge it...
 
I somehow don't believe the ESC is setup with a cutoff from factory... and I know I haven't changed it...
Next time I redo the balloon around the servo and Rx I'll make sure to tune the ESC as well (in the mean time I'll just not run it quite that flat... my bad I think)

It may of been a bad pack. The only time i've killed a pack was due to low C rating in a high Amp hungry rig. You'll need to call Hazchem or a bomb squad for that pack....lol 

Yeah bud it'll be good to hang out sometime and shoot some roosts..

Your intake protection looks nice, and should do well in a large body of water. But it won't keep out the little pebbles that do the most damage in creeks and rapids. Be sure to keep a couple impellers on hand, or possibly consider installing a grate.

Status: offline 		Hey guys, long time no post, just got everything working today, but the engine appears to be spinning in the shaft. (Supposed to be same size (2.3mm)  http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__8595__2040SL_4800kv_Brushless_Inrunner_WaterCooled_.html) Ideas?

EDIT: Resolved, well more so was never an issue, I'm blind apparently.
