im looking at the himoto rxt 1 or the gs xut. They look the same but i found the GS for 299.00.I want to know if the GS has the same clutch bell as the himoto rxt 1.Cause im reading that the rxt 1 has a long clutch bell and it eats the gear.

Are you racing? Is 300 you absolute top budget? Might want to look at the Thunder Tiger ST-1 as an alternative, not sure if you are racing or not.

I had a truggy (monsoon) with the same clutch bell and had no problems. Easy fix though if you want to use a regular clutch bell is to just dremel out the chassis farther forward where the flywheel sits down in the chassis and move the motor forward and you are set. I have a RXT-1 that I did that too and took all but 15 minutes to get everything set and now I use regular clutch bells. The RXT-1 is a very nice truggy and durable too. No difference between it and the GS, just relabled. If you can some more, look into the Caster Racing K8T.

I've seen pictures of th GS XUT and the Himoto RXT-1 and they look very different. Even the chassis braces are different! Are you guys sure that they are the same?

Same truggy. Just the braces are cut out to look different but they are the same exact shape and everything.

Take a look at the himoto RXT-1 thread here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7416254/tm.htm or google some more for better pics. Everything is the same. Just the radio tray and top steering plate are cut out on the himoto and I would assume lighter.

That looks like a normal clutch bell on the GS to me, cant see the Himoto one clear enough to see the (if any) difference. I thought the Himoto was similar to the VTX, at least I understand that the VTX has the funny extended clutchbell thing. I personally think Himoto is an underated brand, my LHS has started stocking a few, and their 1/8 range seems pretty cool to me, especially for a club racer.

The Himoto, GS and VTX are supposed to be extremely similar if not the same BUT now that you mention it the GS in the pic does look like a regular clutch bell. Maybe GS changed something the others did not. I have see a VTX and it DOES have the long clutch bell like the Himoto. Have not seen the GS up close with my own eyes though.

So it has to have the regular clutch bell. Might as well get the GS if you do not want to have dremel the Chassis then.

the major differences between the 2 truggies is that the center diff is directly inline with the front and rear... gs is not.

The way the chassis is laid out is pretty much the whole difference. Engine placement, center diff location and so on.

Amazing that one will say that they are the same exact truggy in one post, but then admit that he's never seen the other up close.

i look at it this way.It looks like all the plastic is the same. But i think the GS is a better buy.Himoto wants 350.. and you have to grind the chassis to put a short clutch bell.GS has the short clutch bell already and they want 300.00 thats 50 less.

Amazing how someone puts words in my mouth (EXACT) too. I admitted I never saw one up close but look at them in many different pics they are extrememly similar. When I am wrong I admit it and I was about the clutch bell and said so. So the GS Racing Storm with PBS is not a Himoto RXb-1 too. Sorry.

Well let me say "I THINK" the arms are even the same webbing and all from the same mold as is most other parts on them

I never put the words in your mouth, you openly posted that information. I can tell you from experience that these are two completely different truggies when thrown on a track. The VTX/ RXT has the better geometrical layout.

I did not say EXACTLY , like you said I did LOL!

I also would think the GS would be better because like you said the center diff is directly in line with the front and rear on the himoto/VTX and the GS is not. That would mean like most other brands say, that the weight is moved more toward the center of the truggy for better handling and the RXT and VTX are not that way.
