I just got off the phone with Darrel from Sierra Precision Components. He had to go to a little larger strut to insure strenght in the nose gear (having heard that guys were bending the original nose gear strut). My nose gear will ship out on Monday and I should have it by Friday. I will post pictures as soon as it arrives and the actual selling price.

Im thinking about getting one of these kits. I have a NIB ASP 1.60 twin I want to use in it.

Anyone have any idea how it will fly? I wonder how much nose weight will be needed.

Hi Shok,

There is a guy on this page: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/tm.asp?m=714769 that is using the 1.60 twin on his. Don't know if he flew it yet but check it out.

If you search this forum for hangar 9 skylane, there is a huge thread and this problem is talked about, and the fix with pictures.
Basically your gloing to cut a groove in that wooden brace in the tail and move the servo arm from the outside throw to the inside throw...quick and easy fix.

By the way I put my 12th flight on my Skylane today and this thing is a total joy and the seirra precision nose strut works like a charm, that stock strut would have been long gone on our grass runway.

My ASP 1.60 twin is actually almost overkill on this plane. Takes off in about 30ft with flaps and cruises at a fast pace at only 1/4 throttle.

I have not weighed it but I estimate the weight at around 17 pounds.
No extra weight was needed.
I'm using a 16x8 prop and I have an MPI onboard glow system.

Mine weighs the same(approx.17lbs.).I added 4 oz up front but probably dont really need it.I'm running a 18x6 Dynathrust glass prop. The OS160 twin likes this prop and is running great after 50 flights. I hear the Magnum 160 twin is underpowered so avoid getting that one.

Shok and SteveD, Thank You!!

I actually have 2 different NIB engines for this bird, and I am trying to deside for the best.
ASP160 twin Four Stroker
MVVS160 red head gasser

My kit is on the way, I can't wait
I follow all the Forums & have seen some modifications that I Plan to Use.
Has anyone installed Navigation & Landing Lights on this bird like those that RAM makes?

I love this ASP 160, I wasnt sure at first but it's a dream....tons of power.
We tac'd the idle RPM at 950! It will do that through an entire tank as well.
Not to mention that it sounds like a Harley

Hi All,

I put together one of these Cessna 182 arfs for someone else and was impressed with the arf. I only had a couple of problems. One was the kit arrived without the nose gear assembly, which is kinda necessary. The other thing I did not like about it was the plastic used on all of the control surfaces was warped. I received a nosegear and new elevators, but the new elevator plastic pieces warped very soon after they arrived. My shop has a/c, but when the plane was taken outside for very long, the plastic warped. Bummer...

I installed the Fugii 32 in the nose and used Hitec servos everywhere. When it came time to balance the Cessna, no weight was needed. WOW!

OK! Time to fly. The Cessna tracks very good sown the runway and the take-off was made at 1/2 throttle. A few clicks of right ailerons and down elevator made the 182 track straight in the air.

All in all it is a great arf that flies wonderful and gets a lot of "Oooohs!" and Aaaaaahs" at the field. The Fugii 32 has more than enough power and the gas is cheaper than glow...

Smooth Landings,

Jake

Hi Cessna Owners,

I just bought my first Cessna 182 SkyLane. I'm still waiting for it to be delivered. I was a little nervous about putting it all together, but I see now there are lots of experts out there who's done this before.

I'm putting a Saito 180 on my plane. I hope it performs well. I won it in a raffle, so I figured I'd get a plane to put it on.

Later,
Jon
