if you buy a commercially made adapter make sure of the type you need, some are tapered seat and some are for gasket seat. i needed a gasket seat type and i ordered one and it came as a tapered seat. i ordered it online and the discription didn't say which so be careful.

most weedie engines aren't picky on the type they take, pretty much every engine I've looked at would be happy with either.

Ok, I deff. believe that buying one would be better for me. I haven't tried running an engine on this mixture yet (can't find the 10/10 glow) but would like to try it sometime perhaps. Thanks.

Car fuel car fuel car fuel car fuel car fuel. The fuel the run in rc cars at 10% to 11% oil. If The fuel can has on it. (do not ues for plane engines) It is 10 to 11% oil. Just get the 10% nitro and your all set. Now the oil is all caster so it is a little messy but not to bad.

That is what I have been runing from day one. Works great and just about all hobby shops that does RC cars has the fuel.

I use Traxxas 30% nitro for cars in my B&S, 40cc four stroke but it has a wet sump oil system so I do not mix anything other than the gas and nitro.

Man! I just don't understand why it is so tough to find this fuel. It is commonly called "Glow Fuel for Large Super Tiger Engines" and is made by ALL of the major fuel manufacturers.

Byrons makes it.
Morgan fuels makes it. (Seller of the popular "Cool Power Omega" fuel.)
Sig makes it.
RedMax Fuels makes it.

And probably others that I can't think of at the moment. The problem (I believe) is that the hobby shops don't want to order it in for you so they say it doesn't exist. Print out some web pages from the suppliers and show them to the hobby shop owners.

i just want to be able to order it online. tower hobbies doesnt carry anything that would work (as far as i can tell)

they dont usually post oil content.

Any one can get the ST fuel if they want to pay for 4gl and then pay the hazmat for it. I do not think that we will need that much fuel at one time. The hobby shops do not want to by that much fuel at one time. They know that no one is going to by it. I do not have the money for 4gl of fuel that would take me a very long time to use. That is why I get traxxas fuel. It is every were and wroks great. Some places you can get it with no problem but it seems like more and more places can not. out here were I live in a 50 mi radeas. I have 4 hobby shops. 2 out of the 4 has closed there doors. I do not think it will be long before the last two do the same thing.

Yeah, that is a sad state of affairs about hobby shops closing. I don't know what the answer is... I have to buy as cheap as I can or I can't be in this hobby. If that means mail order; then I have to do it. Unfortunately, the hobby shops suffer for this...

As far as the fuel, I understand that a hobby shop may not want to order the fuel. It just aggravates me when they lie and say it doesn't exist.

Another option is to buy readily available 20% oil, 20 % nitro fuel, and mix it one to one with pure methanol. This will give you two gallons of 10% nitro 10% oil fuel to use in your Gas/Glow mix. Methanol is used in race cars and race go karts, and can be found in most cities at hot rod shops and/or go kart shops.

If the only fuel you can find is say; 17% oil more or less and 20 % nitro, that's ok to mix with methanol one to one as well. The original Gas/Glow formula has about a 32 to 1 final oil content. A little less won't hurt a thing....

Or when motorcycle and lawn mower shops say that no oil exists that mixes with gas and methanol and that there will be no power gains running on methanol. I just about told the one guy off that was just rude to me and spoke to me as I was a retard and had no clue about engines. I would love to take one down to his shop and run it just to make him eat his words.

Yeah, it seems like that would be fun to do, but he would just come up with some stupid off the wall excuse to "cover his a$$". I just laugh and walk away from people like that. A lot of us old "wrenches" have probably forgotten more about engines that those guys will ever know.

av8tor1977,, I have a brand new HB 61(made in 1983) never started, this engine has a Stepped Piston like so-many older engines do, I was wondering if I converted the Lower Rod with a Needle Bearing if this engine would run on the Gass/Glow Mix ??

I'm not sure if it will work with this Stepped Piston,, what yeeaa think ??

I recommend Gas/Glow only for engines that are ringed. A stepped piston and/or an ABC design is not a good candidate for Gas/Glow as the piston fit depends on the temperature provided by the manufacturers recommended glow fuel and nitro content.

Then it should work, but it might be tough finding enough room in the rod to accomodate a roller bearing.

yeeaa I hear that,, and it would probably take 4 years for me to burn 3 gallons of Mix LOL, but it's something I can keep in mind,,

and I still have the Super Tartan 44cc Twin and 22cc single I want to run on this Mix, I have the 44 setting right here on the desk,,

I would still like to run my MVVS 35 on this Mix to lighten up my Gee Bee Y a bit, but I paid so much for this engine I can't bring myself to do it,,

If the H B engine has a high compression ratio it should run pretty good on FAI fuel (no nitro) that you can mix. That and the use of a good hot 4 cycle Glow plug would be fairly cheap to run. Just a idea! Capt,n
