I'm hoping to soon be working on two new projects, Guillow's Dauntless and their Mitsubishi Zero, two of my favorite planes.

Has anyone here built either of these two models before? Any advice in converting them to RC? I'm planning to strengthen the front ends on each.

I couldn't help notice the Guillow's ad for the Zero talks about Pearl Harbor, Dec 7, 1941. Yet their model is clearly an A6M5 Zero which wasn't manufactured until 1943. Oh well.

Unforgiven

ps - Anyone here heard of Rikyu Watanbe? If you ever get a chance to own a book that he's illustrated you're in for a real treat. I've owned several of the Crown publications he's illustrated including 'Stuka' & 'Zero'. They are truely excellent publications and great for using as a reference when detailing your models.

WoW! I had no idea he built. Although it doesn't really suprise me. He's a gifted artist and it would be a natural extension to work in both in 2 & 3 dimensions. Especially with his talent. I'd love to meet him one day. Gee... and Puyallup is only a stone's skip away from me.

I also collect smaller scale metal diecast models of some of my favorite WWII aircraft. Just yesterday I picked up one of the new Matchbox Collectibles planes, the A6M5 Zero. The plane looked familiar so I compared it to Mr. Watanabe's picture of the A6M5 in his Zero book. It's identical down to the last detail. Seems like the Matchbox folks use his work as a solid reference aswell. I don't blame them.
