After a good rest, and staying warm, will be up and ready to work on the boat some more.
Thank you both for your support.

I picked up the special clear 3/8 high heat hose to route the tail pipes to the muffler. I also went to a computer show today, and picked up a excellent heat sink, and electric fan to be placed on the muffler.
The same kind of tube, but in 3/4 size is going to be used for the air intake. from a slot in front of the boat to the carb. There will be a small filter made to specs, from k&N. It cost me a little more then the normal, but it is washable as I specified, and I have three, so will last me more then the life of the boat, or a million miles one filter.
My son is dazzled by the thought process I put into the boat, and wonders how I do it. I told him if you want it right, then a little labor of love goes along ways.
Just like my son asked me, why did I put a small loop on the antenna lead just before the receiver. I told him, with water spray, it can attach to the antenna, and drip down to the box, even if the box is water tight, the water will not go past the loop!-Butch

i hope that your holidays are a safe one.thank your other half for the cookies.

I already have the first drive you sent me attached, but I must admit. When I first seen it I did like it a lot, for I have another boat after this one to build.
I did buy a fujiti marine gas engine, I did find in the classifieds for forty dollars, I will need to rebuild it some what. But I have a vast education in mechanical engine rebuilding.
As a special project, I have a sundancer plastic boat, got at kmart for 19.00 dollars. I being silly, but I put a 540 electric motor in it, and changed up the prop.
I did it, because a guy at Belle Isle seen me when I bought it for my son to enjoy, as a first boat. I called the guy, and told him to meet me at the boat pond, which he did. All he could do is
laugh when he seen the kmart special. He had brought his special scarab with dual 380 motors in it, and we set out to race. HE HE, he was not laughing at my son Steven, when his boat whooped his boat.
His boat did better in the turns, but in the straight a ways, the kmart special just walked away from him.
Man, I just love when a good plan comes to finish.
Butch & Steven
PS- My wife says you are welcome, and yes the homelite site was very usefull-thank you very much, and have a excellent and safe holiday.

good morning Butch, after Christmas i was wondering if this out-drive would be more to your liking that i will send it to you.sorta like a belated christmas gift,no charge...
i will never use this out-drive,all my motors are to powerful to use this on,but it is a scale version of the mercury out-drive on real boats.i took some pictures of it so you can make a decision.i don't want to send it if you aren't going to use her on the scarab build project

I have thought about it, and the merc drive would look great on the project. Plus the boat I am presently doing, will have a second cabin placed upon it, and will look like a cross between a luxery race yahct, and a scarab.

I did not know that, well I can always use the education of rebuilding it to brand new, then always resale it or trade it.
Thanks for telling me.
I am sticking with the homelite line for my big boat projects, but I do have a boat project that does need a engine, it is a 36" Chris Craft Runabout, do you have something I can buy in the way of a gas engine, drive line setup, and rudder with water pickup $ ?

36 is kind of small for a gas motor.i might have a 20cc weedeater with a clutch,i am not sure where it is,i will need to look around for it.it is hard to keep track of everything here.so many boats, not enough time.i know, iknow,i need to slow down.this gas boating thing has taken over my live.if there were a market here in maryland i would have opened a store, something like R/C BOATS-R-US. or something like that.i will send out the amps/mercury outdrive after the holidays.

Rich404 & soundguykaraoke50

I have been busy over the past few hours, had to do something, while the wife is at work.
I am enclosing some more pictures below, of the flex cable, tail pipe tubing, heat sink and electric fan, and outdrive.
Saturday, I am going to install the sponspons on the transom, and try to get the upper part of the deck put on.

http://image2-0.rcuniverse.com/e1/forum/micons/m16.gif

My Friends; last night could not sleep with all the fools shooting in the air. Anyways, I did manage to put on the sponpons, adjust prop angle, polish the prop, and installed a fan.
The fan is mounted in the engine housing, to help draw the hot air from the head, and to the outside of the boat.

Also, I stated the wire diagram for the manual, and remote engine kill switches. One will be mounted in main helm, and one near the engine with a servo, for emergency shut down.
I have high heat wire ties to clamp the exhaust tubing to the tail pipe, and did so last night.

Special Notice to All Captains/ A good friend of mine told me about a better solution to a excellent marine grease. The grease in the rc shops is fine, but you pay a couple of bucks for a few ounces,
I bought the CITGO SUPERGARD MARINE PLUS HIGH PERFORMANCE-FULL SYNTHETIC GREASE, from the local hardware, or auto parts stores. A 14 ounce tube costs only $3.00, and 100% better.

Here is a couple of pictures for you to take a gander at. Also, I have developed a copy of the Auto Part for a car or truck-The Tornado. It was first developed by Datsun, to help stabalize the air inside the valve chambers. It would give it a swirling effect for better burned air/gas mixtures, and increased performance, and cooler running engine. Will keep you posted. Butch

CONTINUED-
When Datsun done it, they had little valves inside the head which caused the swirl motion. When the new company from Tornado came out with it, it would fit inside the the air filter for carbs. And inside tpi systems, of the intake tube.

This can be adopted also for electric motors as well, not just nitro or gas engines. The swirling effect would move more mass air, in a swirling motion for greater cooling.
Any person wanting more information on this issue must PM me.

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE everyone-Butch

Hi Butch,

That is one serious looking engine compartment! Everything you are doing is well thought out, and excecuted nicely. I actually used the tornado fuel saver on a few of my cars along with K&N air filters. It gives you better gas mileage while increasing HP because the engine breathes more efficiently. That is sooo cool that you are adding it to your boat.

What are your exterior plans? Will you resin the exterior hull, or glass it?

-Rich.

I use to live in Frederick, Michigan. This is where the mother factory is located for making plaques from trees. If you ever seen part of a tree truck cut about 3/4" thick and at a sharp angle, with a picture of sorts laquered onto it. And it felt like flexiglass coating. After I finish painting the hull, I plan to have a little family trip to Frederick and have them do it.

They lay the item onto a conver belt system, and the laquer is put into a special sprayer, where it looks like it is running through a 36" wall of celaphane. They put it through twice, once one way, and the second the other way. Then they put it into a low heating room to dry for 12 hours. The coating resists gas-oil-water-moisture-salt-high temps, and so on.

The best part is, I personally know the person that does it, for I worked with his father at Fred Bear Bow Factory in the seventies, just before they moved the factory to florida.

Butch& Thank you!

Thank You Soundguykaraoke50, it came today.
Will be putting it on Friday, or Saturday, when I do not have to watch the grandson. He is quite the hand full at times.

Also, finished making the drawing in my head how I want the main helm cabin, and busy working on it.

that is an amps drive, they are very hard to come by.i though that would look killer on your boat.looking like the mercruizer outdrive.i sent yoi a some props to try,i would use the bigest one i sent you,as the home-lite likes a large prop.you could cut down a bigger prop to clear the cavitation plate for more pitch.that was the best outdrive in my old nitro days.i hope that you put her to work again,as there isn't a lot of use on this outdrive.it did get bumped hard on the cav plate.i ground off the bad spot,i just nevr got around to clean up the spot better.talk to you later,

I do plan to put it on, and have already started to clean it up, and give it a good paint job.

Also, my wife has made a special treat for you. It is called Lemon Delite Snack Bar. I tried them, and they are very much addictive, will be sending them out this coming Monday priority mail.
Email me, or call me when you get them, for my wife's labor of love, is to hear how well, a person like's them.

There is a special place in our hearts for you, { you are family to us }
