Thank you very much, I try to put a lot into my work.
I have the heart and the mind, my wife says and she enjoys watching me when I work on it.
There is plenty more to come, and will post it all here and pictures as well.

Hey All,
Detroit is only about 800 miles from here we could take a ride and try to wrestle him out of that masterpiece...LOL it would be an easy weekend turnaround as long as my arms don't get broken trying to get it. I didn't retire from the Army I was just happy to make it back to the states as 17 months in a jungle was enough. I have an OLD Dumas DV 60 that I built in 73 or 74 she's beat up but I'll bet she would jump right back in the water with some tinkering. You have made me start thinking... I still have the Merco that I used when I raced her in Washington DC. I'm babbling so I'll stop here.
TTYL,
Bruce

Well, I finished putting three coats of water proof epoxy inside the bow, way the way foreward. Then I put in a water proof expandable foam to help with the boyant, and 40-60 weight transfer to the stern.
Will take pictures once the foam is dry, and I finish shaping it. I made sure I did not allow it to pass, past the outside of the bulk heads, and chines.
Until in the morning, more will come!

Hey Guy's;

Saturday, I will post on this build, with the start of the top cabin. It has taken me some time consuming effort designing in my head several approaches to what I consider, great.
I visited many marina's, boat shops, boat shows, magazines, books, and internet sites. Some was helpful, but my very first idea of what would look great, but also to be very productive in the design image.
It has to be very strong, removable in a pinch, and to have body lines to flow with the rest of the boat. I am not sorry for taking so long, I am very demanding when I do projects, and I demand 200% from myself, or nothing at all!
Also, I will post a picture of my 1994 Ford ranger splash, that I have talked about in this forum.
Lets all say a little prayer for WhiteWolf, he is really going through a tough time, and will be in the hospital for another three weeks!

All Captains
Here is the link to my Ford Ranger. When I first bought this truck in 2001, it was in very rough shape. The paint was very dull, had rusty rims, could not get out of it's own way. Many hours of labor, $ and the pleasure of bragging rights, it is the way I like it.

Dear Fellow Captains;
Because of lack of funds, and parts needed for this build, I must put it away for the time being.
It is truly a sad day for me, for now the finish due date of June 2009, will be extended even more.
For my ssd & ssi should be in by then, and will be able to finish then. If not will wait even further.
But it goes past August, I will have no other choice, but to sell it, and all the items I have collected over the past months.
Hopefully, it will not come to this.
Also on another note, I have entered into the Veterans Annually Craft Show again this year with a 1942 ford stake truck.
I vamped the entire truck, and built my own tow truck equiptment, put in lights, and so far it still is in first place, after three shows.
46 more shows to go. A 1964 pontiac GTO has won second place so far of mine, and it is safely back home, for only first place winners can proceed further.

Hi Butch,

Nice truck & it's cool that you are into classic cars!

Having to mothball a project happens from time to time. Whether it is lack of funds, time or other projects that get in the way at a point in time. Just because you cannot finish the boat now does not mean you should entertain the thought of selling it. You have done an AWESOME job with this build and even if you sell it, you will most likely lose money and the new owner will not be able to bring forth your vision for it. Later on it will be a regretful sale.

I would say just mothball it for a while, put her away until time and funds become available to finish it. Heck, I have been working on Dauntless for a few years now and have had to hit the "pause" button a few times, but each time I resume it gets closer and closer to the finish line.

These boats are not meant to be a "quick satisfaction" like RTR's, this boat will always be a part of you. When Enzo Ferrari's clients would become impatient and would demand deadlines for the completion of their new Ferrari sports car, he would tell them: "It is done when it is done!" He did not care how powerful the client was, it took time and patience to build a Ferrari and he would not be rushed.

Same with your boat my friend, throw away the deadlines...It will be done when it is done!

You have RTR boats to get a quick fix for the time bieng.. A unique boat takes time, patience & money, but it does get done and your vision for this boat will become solid reality.

Like a Ferrari, it is well worth the wait!

Cheers!

-Rich.

The doctor changed some of my meds, and they caused severe depression. I contacted the doctor and told him of the reactions taking place, and he switched me back to my original again.
I am thinking more clear head, and shall take a small break from the boat, then when the urge arises, shall finish it.
The truck in the above picture, I have had it since 2000, and will never sell it, for it is going to my son when I get to old to drive, or pass. But I will live to a ripe ole age of 98.
Thanks a bunch Rich, you are a close friend.

Nice boat, will be working on my boat once again. Just waiting for the veterans doctors, to stop putting needles, and dye in my body. Each time they do a cath on me, it puts my heart at risk.
My heart was 50% dead, and now from the last cath, they say it is even more dead tissue, and muscle. And they will not tell me what percent I stand at now.
Also, for a long time, the adminstration told me I was not service connected. Will they the secret is out of the bag, for they found grenade fragments, and a AK47 bullet lodged in my heart. I guess I am a cat with many lives.
The type of service I did for the navy, does not warrant me for certain services, for I cannot speak of what I did, or it's curtains for me. Frankly I try not to remember, or I just cannot remember getting fragged, or shot ? WHAT DID THEY DO TO ME, TO FORGET SUCH ?\

Dear Friends;

After a much needed break, this Saturday will be the day I pull my boat project out of the closet, and continue working on her.
Saturday afternoon, I will post some pictures of my progress, and post them here to check out.

Hello All

I have begone working on strengthening the inside of the hull, where the engine mounts are place. I had reworked the engine I am using to produce more toque, for rough water and not so much for the speed. My build is a yacht type project, and the need for speed, is not required. I just want it to be able to cruise, and yet be able to plane water well.

I am not going to use the original gas tank I constructed, for the splashing of the gas is not my cup of tea. I have done some extensive research, and came up with a very easy solution, other then using IV bags. I plan to have a better aspect of this ongoing idea done by Thursday of this week. One idea deals with rubber, and the other deals with a type of plastic.

Until I come to a solid answer, I will not mention what it is I plan to use.

RICH404, I will send you a PM in the morning !

Butch- HAPPY JULY 4TH TO ALL !

Hi Butch,
Nice to hear you getting back to work on your masterpiece! I've looked at my old boats and you have made me want to put one back in the water, but which one..20..40..or 60 as I have all three of them...Decisions...decisions...LOL Dumas has designed some GREAT boats and you'll love the way they handle. I found out about 15 years ago that I have various pieces of leftover scrap metal just hanging around in me that wasn't removed then, but we came home and so many didn't. I'll continue to lurk in the shadows and watch your progress on your beautiful building skills.
TTYL,
Bruce

Thank you very much for that thought, I do take a lot more time then some. But in the long run, I can easy repair any problem, replace any part that may be bad.
I sat back in the side line for a few years watching and learning others good fortunes, and mistakes. I made a few Bo-Bo's along the way, but I always back tracked and resolved the issue.
I want my boat to be different then anybody has seen yet, because this is me!
Work Hard, Play Hard-Think Smart!

PS, will be posting some pictures this weekend, had to get a digital camera-the phone just could not hack it any more.

Thank you for your support, but the engine is not a nitro. It is a John Deere Homelite rear starter two-cycle engine. Go all the way back to when I first started, and you will also see a homebuilt cooling system with a radiator.
So I can run my boat in fresh water, and salt water, without flushing out the cooling system, for it's self contained!
