I left a futaba 2.4ghz rx on for two straight days. The battery was dead when I tested with the tx but after an hour of charge it came back to life. Should I expect any permanent damage?

Just give it a good, thorough overnight charge and it should be OK. NiCd packs are very resilient! You've got a built-in voltmeter so you'll know if there's a problem.

If your battery life seems shorter just cycle the transmitter pack three or four times and it should recover fine.

I think he was talking about his Rx battery. I think you may have to relink your RX. If you have the ability to Cycle your battery, you can check the amount of charge and discharge. If the numbers are low discard the battery-there cheap compared to a plane. You will want to range check your system to be absolutly sure of no problems.

I'd suggest cycling that receiver battery several times and checking it under load before calling the battery good.

Yeah, I agree, Steve. If you are in any way insecure about it, remove doubt and cycle it at least once. That means full charge to full discharge (within the limits of the discharge tool you are using) then back to full charge. You can do this two or three times just to make sure you are happy with the re-charge and that it is in fact responding to the recharge.

Yes, do a few charge discharges, but if it took the whole charge back, then I'd say your good. The fact that it came back is a good sign, if it went too low, like to no voltage, then it would probibly tell you right away that's it's no good by not accepting anything. Leave any battery at 0 volts and it renders the polarity neutral, when you go to charge it, the electrons don't know where to gather in the chemistry of the battery. I could be wrong on the theroy but I've never had a 0 volt battery come back to life, they just simply loose polarity and accept nothing.

For yall that dont have a good charger/discharger like the car guys do, get one. Nicads and Metal nickles need to be cycled before they reach full potential. And why they still include Nicad rx packs with transmitters now days is beyond me! I'm sitting here looking at this cheezy 600 mAh pack that came with my new radio and I am shaking my head. I have some left over Intellect 1400 2/3A cells from my 18th scale car stuff that I am thinking of using in my trainer.

1400 is still 1400mah, chop the pack down to 4 or 5 cells and use it.

These are loose cells, not a pack. I allways build my own packs. Except when Trinity sponsored me. lol

The reason they include NiCad is because they are better in all respects except for size for equivalent capacity. NiCads withstand abuse better and have twice as many charge/discharge cycles as NiMh..

Howdy Rodney.

Ill have to disagree with ya. I admit I dont know alot about planes, but I have been racing cars for over 15 years and I belive NiMh's are far better a battery. Thsy do not develope a memory, are lighter, have more capacity, more voltage and can be charged several times in one day unlike NiCads. They handle abuse just fine in offroad RC cars.

I think the reason they include them is because they are now cheap.
