Thanks Bud. It smokes like a mother runnin around there. Is this normal for this truck? Thanks Sam

They do put off quite a bit of exhaust smoke. If they are not, they are going to be too hot. Looks like a blue con trail.....

Fuel with a high oil content can make your Savage a mosquito fogger. Keep the oil at 12% max.

Got to run her a little this morning, still sluggish. The motor mount loosend up and forced me to stop. When I toor it down to fix it I noticed a pile of oil residue on the motor. Possible air leak? Seams to be coming from around the rotostart area. I'm gonna also put the stock bumpers back on along with taking off the whole reverse system off as well. Put the stock exhaust on as well, and see what happens. Thanks Sam

It is normal for the backing plate-roto-starter to seep a little through that roto-shaft. However, you may have a leaking backing plate itself, which will give you tuning issues that can drive you crazy, including sluggish performance and high temperatures. There is a simple cure....

Remove the engine, remove the starter, remove the backing plate. I use Permatex Ultra Copper, their part number 101BR, available at all fine auto parts stores. It came recommended to me and it worked great, so I have always used it. Other people use Ultra Black, Ultra Blue... they are basically the same, just different temperaure ranges.... The cheaper silicone gasket maker will not work as it becomes solvent on nitro fuel and will become long stringy globs of goo. Anyway, I use a Q-tip to apply it, some people use plastic applicators or their fingers. My fingers always seem to get involved too. A very thin coat is all you need.

While we are addressing these types of leaks, the base of the carburetor is another great source. Same thing, a thin coat right at the top flange. The engine photographed is a Orion 26 made by Picco, but yours will be very similar.

BUDBUD, Thanks very much for the pointer and great pic( I'm a visual learner). This is next on my list, I was thinking of doing somthing like this, but was unsure of what to use that would hold up to nitro. Again thanks a bunch, I'll keep you posted. Thanks Sam

I take it that stopping the air leaks got her ripping for you? If so, glad I was able to help you out. Bud
