Haven't had the opportunity to interrogate the 1,433 incumbents.

Tell me about it.   A friend of mine just completed the test flight of what he calls his "ultimate scale model",  an 82% scale replica of a Fieseler Storch & even gave a presentation to the local ISPM chapter titled under the same name.

How about a 82% replica of a Tiger 1 for his next project?

Its a kit you can build in under 700 hours from Criquet Aviation:  http://www.criquetaviation.com/

The cost, however, doesn't come cheap... its even more expensive than those outrageous Tamiya kits!

OK that is impressive - I couldn't have told that from the real thing unless you'd have said it was a replica and showed the guy standing next to it!
The real Fieseler Storch / MS Criquet is an amazing STOL performer, you can fly them in and out of a grass strip the length of a tennis court - I'd be interested to hear how this one compares.

Here are photos of Hooben's new T-55A from this weekend's Shanghai Model Expo.  As you can see, their display model suffered some damage during the show when someone broke off the search light (working LED) but overall it looked good.   Nylon is used for the track, barrel mount & other areas subject to stress.   Track has some weight to it & hangs nicely on the road wheels.   Suspension is all metal & appears very robust.
Unfortunately, release date has been held since they are still working on the electronics.   They expect to have a working preproduction model within a few weeks which I'll be able to test once its been given the OK.

Regarding their other planned models, no dates have been given on pending release.   I was told the Elefant will be given priority after the T-55.

For you Storch lovers out there, I came across a very nice 1/8 scale ARF model that will eventually find their way into my crowded hobby room.

Chuck

Anytime.  As you may have already discovered, I don't believe in "exclusive coverage" like some other RC Tank forums like to boast about.

I'm happy to keep you guys updated & want one of these as much as anyone else.  From what I've been told that can't be repeated here, the electronics should be pretty darn nice especially for the price these will be offered.  Tamiya will need to watch their back once Hooben gets up & running.

The thing is we need some more modern armor to go along with it.

Not into modern armor myself but I would add an Abrams to my stable should they make one in 1/16.

It's reassuring to hear that they are delaying the release of the model until the electrics are functioning correctly which is the opposite of what Heng Long does people will be able to concentrate on running there tanks without having to replace boards every 10 minutes which means there wont be thousands of threads asking how to stop boards from going up in smoke and where can I get this board from

Replace does for DID and most folks would agree with you.

No photos are available; only the 3D drawings posted earlier since the Elefant is still in R&D.

just curious about the T-55. I came across this looking for parts:

http://www.afv-model.com/4711shop/index.php?cat=c42_T-34-T-55.html

this is out ahead of the tank itself. by any chance this would fit the upcoming T-55 or somehow you could modify the WSN/ Trumpeter T-34 to look like a T-55?
or somebody already made a T-55 tank out there?

or am I missing some sort of historical evolutionary timeline for the rc T-55 here?
