T-55 is all talk and to long to market, so who care, but this is a really interesting video I haven't seen:

FYI, both Tina & her boss, Feng, understand English quite well so you don't need to resort to using translation sites to communicate with them.

I'm just sitting it out at this point waiting for the kit to be released. Am certain once its ready, they'll let you know.

Panther G -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (8/6/2009 1:01 AM)

The T-55 is still on my list of future tanks. Once we have it though we'll need an M-60 or a good M1A1/2. I really wish someone would start making some modern armor . What little there is besides some of the very high priced stuff just aint cuttin it.

herrmill -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (10/29/2009 10:40 PM)

For those who've been waiting on the Hooben's T-55A....

Release has been delayed until first of the year as they wait for the electronics from Clark-Model.

Was told last week after the Toy Expo they only planned to offer ARTR but who knows at this point based on the price list:

Cost

Model:
Kit $147
ARTR $221
CSC/LNS $221

Chargers:
Auto $ 9
Smart $147

Cases:
Alloy $ 59
Wood $ 15

As they say in show biz... stay tuned.

Panther F -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (10/29/2009 10:42 PM)

I'll still get one of them. I wonder who will be the distributor?

herrmill -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (10/29/2009 10:56 PM)

BTW, your new sales contact at Arkmodel / Hooben is Momiji. Tina left for greener pastures several months earlier.

Here's a photo of Tina so you guys know who you were chatting with along with several more of the T55.

All are direct sale at this point but they do have a dealer in LA who sells several of Ark's boat & sub kits. I'd presume he'll be carrying the tanks as well.

Silk789 -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (10/31/2009 9:17 AM)

swathdiver -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (10/31/2009 9:21 AM)

Looking forward to this release. Looks like a superb product!

pcsguy88 -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (10/31/2009 9:30 AM)

This will probably be my last tank unless someone moves into modern tanks for HL prices and quality.

Right! Something will come along and you will have to have it. Denial is a sign of addiction.

Did you read my post directly above yours? I spoke with Feng, Hooben's owner, right after the show as well as his sales girl this week. At this point the T-55 is delayed until after first of the year while they wait for the electronics. If its released sooner, that will be great but I'm not betting the farm on it.

I've seen & held the prototype in Sept '08 shortly after it was assembled & again the Shanghai Model Expo this past June. What was shown at the recent Toy Expo was the same prototype model.

Why don't one of you RCTHQ members post an update over on Nev's site with a link to this thread. I'm sure he would love getting his "exclusive news" from RCU! [:D]

Silk789 -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (10/31/2009 9:51 AM)

Argh damn sorry hermill, i didn`t recognized that ^^

i am not member of RCTankHq i just saw the news there an then this thread here ^^

i didn`t  understand why they have to wait for this damn electronics i would by it without it cause i will use elmod *sfg*

so thanks hermill for your cleaing words, with first u mean January next year ore?

and about the prototype u saw it so what would u say about the qquality of this tank?

best regards

frank from Germany ^^

herrmill -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (10/31/2009 10:20 AM)

Frank,

Regarding RCTHQ & their "exclusive" coverage, I've known about Hooben's involvement with Clark since earlier this year but kept it off the grid per Feng's request. Trying to do a system locally with a partner in China has been the big delay before they looked eastward to Taiwan after getting a few suggestions. [;)]

I've been lobbying for them to release a kit LESS electronics ever since I saw it last year.

The overall fit & materials used on the prototype were good. I've not seen the actual sprue or the instructions so not sure what the final product will be like.

Last I have heard was that Hooben plans ONLY to sell as an ARTR or RTR tank. Not sure why unless they've found several large customers in the EU or Russia who want it that way. I prefer the kit myself. As I said... stay tuned! Plans change here as often as the wind changes direction.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen aus China!

Chuck

SNOWTANK -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (10/31/2009 5:18 PM)

That is one nice looking Tank. I would definitly order this one.

For those "patiently" waiting for this release, you might be interested in the following T54/T55 books:

Panther G -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (12/5/2009 1:16 AM)

I dont want a book . I want a tank. I can get a book anytime. LOL

herrmill -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (12/5/2009 1:51 AM)

Don't we all...

heavyaslead -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (12/7/2009 9:36 PM)

Hello Chuck

Have you had an opportunity to test drive the T55 with Clark electronics?

I would be very interseted in the performance compared to Tam!

I have long awaited CLARK having a 16th scale ESC/Battle system, some 3-4 years now from seeing their 25th scale system. I do hope the wait will not be much longer.[;)]

bigfiver69 -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (12/7/2009 9:41 PM)

Any word on the Elefant that Hooben was creating. Someone posted some CAD drawings early this year - wonder if they've gotten into the prototyping yet.

Sigh... probably never going to happen.

Just wait. it is right behind the T-55 LOL

herrmill -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (12/7/2009 11:12 PM)

Last word from yesterday's follow up was that they are still awaiting some "small parts" for the kit. Electronics & sound are still being addressed - Hooben was recording Type 59 engine & gun sounds recently on a range up in north China. They'll still expect to be doing ARTR production next month.

For you guys in the UK, Hooben shipped a container of ARTR Perkasa MTB last month to a distributor & I'd bet the T-55 will follow.

Regarding Elefant, your guess is good as mine but I'd think it will follow the T-55 later next year once it has been proven a success.

Mojimi gave me a quote for a KIT despite delivery is expected in 2010... I'm still considering the order though...

herrmill -> RE: Hooben's new T-55A (12/17/2009 12:48 AM)

Yes, they've quoted me a kit as well but waiting for parts to arrive.
