Status: offline 		OK guys I'm getting close to paint on mine. so here's a question, on the folding wing we have this hydraulic pump that only is operating the wing. What if we were to add another valve, "t" the pressure line to another valve and run the main retracts on hydraulic. The mains would have a constant pressure and no chance of them folding if the AIR pressure were to bleed down. Yes I use all the best of everything on my models and just thought it would be cool to have the mains run from this pump. Any thought's.

Status: offline 		Interesting thought,but I think you are just as likely to have an oil lreak as an air leak. Also, I think that if you did this with Y connector, whenyou cycled the wings it would cause a drop in pressure and the gear could collapse. Especially if your moving, which is the neatest time to fold the wings

Status: offline 		My other thought would be when flying when I cycle the gear would there be enough drop in pressure that the wings would fold in flight, that would not be good.

I'm using a set of four large decal stars-n-bars from major decal.

pic 1:
The sink was the only place big enough for my decals.

pic 2:
Right bottom wing done

pic 3/4:
Left top wing.

pic 5:
Fuse completed.
Hopefully, my nomenclature from pro-mark will come in shortly.

Assembly (cont)

The decals for the corsair aren't exactly the way I want them as they don't have the 'broken' lines on each letter and the 'ammunition gun box' isn't there: not the printer's fault since he only prints what was sent to him and I assumed the nomenclature from another pilot was correct. I'll just keep them for some other project.
This morning, I ordered a set of decals from TaylorMade in Germany. My first overseas order but he takes MC and the site looks respectable.

pic 1/2:
Meanwhile, I thought that I'd get my TF F4U down from the ceiling and get it ready to fly while I'm delayed on the comparf. This was made my Gary Webb: it has a lot of detail. Gary said it flew marginal with a 50 cc so I put a quadra 75 in her. It took all day to get her ready as the ignition didn't work: fortunately, I had a spare. Then the after market muffler was too loud so I put the stock muffler on and it took awhile to trim the cowl.

my spare prop set came in today for the moki 250.
Can't remember the exact time but it took 6-8 weeks to get them.
Good that he's backed up: means he's busy and will likely stay in business.

Status: offline 		Hope u have better luck with your , just test flew a buddy of mine this weekend. We had many problems with it, like verticle fin fludder at half throttle. Rebuilt that then the next flight had right aliron flutter. There is many things in the instructions thats not clear. Worked on this thing all weekend at warbird meet. It has a Moki 250 radial and my friend has a lot of money in it so far not HAPPy

What type of linkage/servo was used on the VERTICAL stab & linkage/servo on the AILERON? Yes I'll agree with you the manual does NOT show much . Sam has cleared up A LOT of unclear issues with this kit with his thread. IMHO with the amount of issues I 've had on this bird Its not worth the 6 K .

I remember that I re-enforced the vertical fin as I thought it would not be strong enough for such a large rudder (see one of my posts on that).
Initially, I put two HS-645's on the elevator but now that I have it disassembled for the painting that I did, I'm putting in digital with more torque (HS-5645's) as they respond faster and more often to hold the 'input'. Also, make sure there is no slop in rudder or elevator: when turned on, you shouldn't be able to manually move those surfaces.

Status: offline 		Extra hydraulic reservoir came in.

I talked to Andy Kane a few weeks ago and he gave me the company in Germany that makes the pump assembly so I ordered an extra reservoir from them as mine has some black 'stuff' in it.
This one doesn't require any assembly as the plugs and all tubing is already installed.
Total price (including shipping) was 25.30 Eur or $30.49 plus $0.91 charge from my MC for a foreign transaction.
My MC also just showed a charge for the taylormade decals from Germany so those may come in shortly.

I noticed the thread all 3mm push rod on elevator was bending when I went to full deflection , My elevator servo is a JR 8711 (402 oz) I epoxied a brass tube over the 3mm thread all ,NO Bend in the rod now,just the correct elevator movement .

Status: offline 		Well I just got back from the field and happy to say I put two successful flight on the corsair . The changes I made in the aileron linkage and the addition of the counterbalances apparently worked. I had no indications of any flutter and was able to have some fun with the plane. With these issues solved I must say it is a very comfortable airplane to fly.

Iam ready for Warbirds over Delaware and I feel a real sense of accomplishment now that it is finished.

Status: offline 		Here is a video of what not to do if you bounce the landing and want to try again. Steve gave it full throttle after the bounce to go around. The torque was almost to much for the pilot to handle as you can see. Looks like the wing tip was in the weeds.

Status: offline 		ok guys, need some help.. flew by corsair today and it flys great. upon landing one gear colasped and caused some damage. as you all know there is no down lock on the gear and only has air pressure to lock it down,, which does not work well...any ideas how to fix. or what everyone else is doing ..
