how did you keep the trans gears from stripping on the occasion of getting the rig bound up. mine didn't last long. i ended up using an axial trans with steel internals. a 3 cell lipo did mine in.

Anyone know of any drop in heavy duty axle replacements?  I tried searching for past posts about it, but as we all know the RCU search engine is a joke.  I've busted 3 long axle's at the yoke end in 2 days.  Saw FLM had some heavy duty cups, do they make axle's?

Nope, wont work.  I have 4 wheel steering and those are solid straight axle's.  Thanks for the link though, some nice upgrades there.
Good luck on your maiden LiPo run tonite.  I've got a buddy running a creeper on a Novak goat 2S and 55T motor  with a 4400 2S LipO and it's pretty beastly.....enough that he's chewing up drive pinions.

Cool, just keep an ear out for any crunching or clicking sounds!!  Since we've moved to LipO batteries, 4WD steer, and locked diff's we can't seem to run longer than 10 min without something shearing or disintegrating.

The problem is that Loctite doesn't hold well on parts that have a poor fit between the threads...which is quite often the case with pinions. When you redo that pinion, you might want to use nail polish instead of Loctite. I saw someone else said they use nail polish and recently tried it out and it does indeed work great. Put it on the set screw and let it dry first before installing it. Nice snug fit.

What I've started doing for pinion set screws is to 'cook' some loctite 680 (the green stuff) onto the set screw by heating it up with a lighter. You'll wind up with a thick plastic like residue that is similar to the epoxy based loctite used by some companies. It can be a little tricky getting just the right amount so the fit isn't too loose or tight, but once done the set screw isn't going anywhere and doesn't need to be re-loctited for at least several removals.
