Well, a while ago I bought an RC 10 (at least that's what people at the LHS told me it was) from someone at the track. I've had a great time running it and have a question.

It needs a new motor, I was told it was burnt out when I bought it but have been running it anyway. I have been looking for a new motor for a while now and can't find one. I've looked at trinity's online store, but I cant find out witch motor is the right size. Could anyone help me out with this?

If it helps I have a ESC with no motor limit.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

I would get a nice 19t motor like a Checkpoint 19t or the new Orion motors with the "v" shaped brush design as I heard those brushes last alot longer and are fast.

Thanks, that helps me out a lot! If anyone has a link that would be great.

Another thing I need help with is I can't tell what is a 540 motor, or another smaller size like a 280.

RC_Kid

PS: If it matters, I found out it's an rc10gt

540 refers to the size of the can. The can is the cylinder that holds all the guts inside the motor. The 280 size motors are much smaller and are not suited to power a 1/10 scale truck like the Rc10. They're mostly for the 1/18 scale minis. You could also run a 550 size motor but those are usually used for Monster trucks and other larger RC vehicles, and generally don't have much in the speed department. Any 540 will fit in an RC10 just fine.

And If that's an RC10GT, you're in the wrong section because the GT is a Nitro powered truck.
Unless it has been converted.

Thanks for the reply.

I knew what the difference is, the problem I'm having is all the websites don't tell you witch motor is 540, or another size.

Also I did more research and found out it is a T4 team kit.

Thanks all for the help.

If it's a T4 I would put a 17T motor in it. I currently have an LRP GT3 17T in my 10T(MUCH older than what you have, but same basic design) and it works great. It goes pretty good, and if I put a 8.4v battery in it, it goes even better. I never have any heat issues with it either. I also have an Orion Method R SV2 in my Lunchbox that is a 17T and that seems to be an excellent motor also. A lot of people recommend 19T for ST's, but I prefer having the extra speed that a 17T provides. I don't notice any lack of torque and it still doesn't get hot. Be careful going any lower than 17T though, as you may begin having heat issues.

The 550s are about a centimeter longer than the 540s. And most usually say 550 on the side. Most of the time 540s aren't labeled because they're the standard motor size. A good 17T or higher motor would do very well in a T4.
