Work on the top battery hatch is almost complete and a new turn over has been made. New seats are being built now but no way to set them correctly with the R&E control rods so high and in the way but I figure it'll look better that the original stock layout.
Photos forthcoming....

These photos are the current progression of mods as of today. The instrument panels were fun to do as well as the seats. The turnover mast and rear instrument panel hood took me some time but I was very pleased with they way it turned out. Lots of website references helped but I'm surprised I couldn't find as much useable detail reference as I thought I would for an SNJ/AT-6.

The fwd battery hatch internal frame was finished using a design left over from a Hobby Lobbby Gee Bee but my battery tray had to be lowered to allow more clearance for the battery. Magnets are planned to secure it.

The only problem I have at this point is the control rods interfering with the seats so I may have to accept the seats setting much higher than scale.

Next modification will involve relocating the stock tail wheel or making the sliding canopy.

Ho-Ho-Ho......

Dick

The latest progress involves cutting the canopy and replacing the top interior panel over the instrument panel. Next step will be to line up the canopy and add the front and rear rails. Getting it all lined up properly may require some consideration.....but I love this stuff! The only problem remains the shallow floor due to the servos which I'm not willing to undertake modifing.
Happy New Year...here's to a good one for us ALL.

It will be interesting to see what you use for the rails.

Hello Cougar,
Rails will consist of K&S sq alum tube cut down the center mounted to the fuse then Styrene plastic "I" Beams mounted to inside the canopy panels. At least that's the plan. If I can get everything to line up properly it should look and funtion similiar to the full scale.

Hey there handyman,
It's been fun to work on but I can't do as much as I'd like to. The rudder and horiz stab servos are positioned high and interfere with what I'd like to do to the cockpits but overall some of the mods should be an interesting addition to the airplane I hope.
More details to add will continue to be added so it'll be a while before she flies. In the meantime it'll continue to keep me busy and satisfy some creative instincts.
Happy New Year...
Dick

Has anyone heard of a website called"2CHEAPHANDBAGS.STORE"? I stumbled onto it looking around for AT-6 parts and found they are selling among various other items, RC Airplanes from known mfr's at rediculously low prices. For example the Top Flite AT-6 ARF (TOPA0965) with retracts for $ 68.00.
I looked the website over and it looks legit but no way to know and the old saying...." if it too good to be true it isn't", naturally comes to mind.
The thing is they sell gobs of other stuff from kayaks to crossbows to musical instruments and much more....

If anyone has heard of it of has any info let please sound off.

See what you think.

Dick

From Shanghi China???? May be too good to be true. I didn't check the shipping??? Unless they have a USA warehouse it may take a while and cost$$$$
But for $68.00 it may be worth a chance?

I thought about making an order for as cheap as possible, but still waiting to find out more info.
Meantime, I'll keep myself busy conjuring up more details to add to my current project...and let somebody order something .

Ton2di;
When I see those three thing on a website, the red flags go way up!!
I was on ebay last week and there was a seller who had a NIB OS 120 four stroke for $1.00 but shipping was $499.99!!!
No Thank You!!!

Capt/Jet22b,

It sure sounds great if the ARF's are priced close to those here locally. (Wishful thinking).

I just love the three payment methods look to be the easiest to scam and hardest to recover.
