We use to race the .40 sized World Mustangs locally. We started of, with just the OS. .46fx and were getting speeds between 90-95 mph. Since then, I have seen them fly on Piped .60s at about 120 mph, and non-piped .60s from 105-110 mph.

I would estimate your speed somewhere around 110-115 mph with the piped Rossi.

Daven,

I used to fly EZ Mustangs and am just getting back into the hobby at a slower rate this time.

Would one of these WM Dago Mustangs fly on a OS40LA until I was able to get my preferred engine?

I wouldn't suggest it.

The Dago is actually a little heavier than the other mustangs due to the fiberglass fuze.

The LA just wouldn't have enough juice in my opinion.

How about an inexpensive 46 bb engine like the Thunder Tiger.?

Here at 5000ft the Dago with a 61fx anda Pitts gets around 95-100mph but were at altitude. This is very good for this area.

....sounds like a pretty good combo to me....

More power than the .45, less weight than the .60....
....with the pipe, it should spin-up real good....

I have the WM Dago Red with magnum .91 4-stroke on it. I have also seen many fly with the OS .61 fx. They are very close in speed, guessing 100 - 110 mph with a slight edge going to the OS. I use it to compete in SWRA events.

The Dago is a heavy plane. Mine is just under 8 lbs without fuel, although 22oz of that is engine. With 10 oz of fuel it works out to 33 oz/ sq ft wing loading. Needless to say it likes to land pretty fast.

Cyclic hardover, where do you fly? I'm in NM also.

Hey guys!

I've got a WM Dago I've been flying for about a year. I Absolutely
Love this airplane!
Mine is set up with a YS 91FZ mounted inverted swinging a
APC 12X13N @ 10,500rpm. I installed a dubro 16oz tank on the CG and made a battery hatch on the bottom of the fuse behind the wing.
A buddy of mine has a calculation program that says it's doing 130mph.
I'm planning on installing a new YS 110 FZ and a 13X13 APC
With the reduced weight and increased RPM, I'm hoping to hit 150mph in level flight.
The only problem with these prop is that it is very hard to slow the plane for landing. There is just so much residual thrust at idle.
I have had a spotter help me fly the plane and once over the threshold of the run way kill the engine. Seem to work pretty good. I'll let yall know how the 110 works out.

....my Dago Red has on OS .90 FS in it (4-stroke)....
with a 12-9 Zinger....although not really fast, it's a
good combo....next one will have the YS .91 FZ.

The .40 size F-20 has a Rossi .45 long pipe in it. it's a
screamer.

The .60 size F-20 (both Cermark) has a Tower .75 in it.
The next on will have the Rossi .91....

Hi there,
I used to fly and still do fly the EZ-Dago Red (40 size). However, we cut off the belly scoop (actually it ripped off) after flying it with OS 65 and 77 Ducted fan engines... High 180mph plus... not bad for a 55 inch fairly scale bird. This is with an 11x7 or 11x8 apc and 15% fuel. Have fun!
