ORIGINAL: av8torjim Try leaning your low speed needle a little at a time. It sounds like you're loading up on fuel during idle. Set the high speed needle set properly first, then change the LSN. The pinch test is a good way to do it. Search the forums for "pinch test." Once you get the LSN set correctly, there should be a smooth transition to higher RPMs. You might need to tweak the HSN after you adjust the LSN, depending on your engine. So I do the pinch test and the RPMs speed way up, so it seems that it is too rich so I adjusted that.. Then I leaned off the HSN and wow, what a difference.. Its a fine art getting it tuned right. My question is, will I always have to tweak it based on the temperature outside and after the engine is warmed up? I leaned it up and wow does the truck GO when it is lean, it accelerates so fast, it pops wheeles and actually did a back flip on level ground but that temp went up way to high on the engine, I need to find a happy medium. I don't really race the truck so I don't need super performance so a bit rich would be better since it will make the engine last longer but I also do not want it to stall from getting to much gas.
