thanks ,

i would probably get another one.
If Kangke Fun 50 was the same price i would get it. but it's more expensive. i really liked the one i had.
i think overall it's flying better. it will do all the slow flying and 3D that the DO does but it can fly faster too as pattern.
i believe it's lighter too.

i still cannot believe i crashed cause of battery. i never understood how that can happened to others. i always had a voltwatch on my planes.
but i didn't have one on this. Because of the painted canopy. oh well..

by the way in what way you find the 60 to fly better ?
i think wing loading is better on the 46. the wing area is very close...

Hey Barry, tail touch yet? I still have my .60 Do & Velox but they dont get out of the hanger much , since I have the Fusion .90 ARF & Double Vision its hard to want to fly the others. I'm surprised you didnt mention the Fusion, wasn't it better than the Do? Mine is, does everything better & at 7.5lbs with OS 1.20AX, wing loading is the best. Sorry Do lovers, I still like mine, but there are better choices out there.

raideron...
Good to hear from you man! I haven't been flying since November. We've had a lot of snow this year. Still have it. I'm thinking about a road trip in a week or two just to go flying. Hope you can get out flying again, a lot. Yeah, I'm flying more of my 50cc gas planes than the Do nowadays. I like the size and the economics of flying gas. (at least after you get the plane built) But every year I start out with the UCDs. I just love them. I'll fly them the first few weeks to get my fingers limbered up again after the long winter lay off. Then I'll usually fly them a time or two during the year just because I have a lot of fun flying them.

Anyways, good to hear from old friends.
Thanks
Barry

a saito 100 is probably the biggest that should be attempted, i am a little bit different and the 125 only stayed in for about 5 flights

pic 1 is the 125 and 2&3 are the 100, notice the tightfit of the 100 at the mount screw.

Went out flying today. Man am I rusty. Very windy but still had a blast with the ol' UCD46. Every time I fly this plane I remember how much I love it. I've been flying "gas" for some time but in the spring, after a long winter lay off I always like to fly a few glow planes to get the fingers limbered up again.

Wow!!! I was doing a rising flat spin in no time. I can't do that with ANY of my gas planes. Also did some great waterfalls, and rolling circles. Hovers are super easy, although the wind blew me into the next county before I could bring it back. I even did some KE with the ol' Do today. And the coupling is outstanding!.

This plane is truly one of a kind. I just love them For the life of me...I don't really know why I fly anything else.

I am interested in how you guys are enjoying the new "Frenzy"? It is another/better UCD? Will it do a decent flat spin? What is the wieght?

I've officiallly started another flying season...it's been a long winter.

thanks
Barry

Hey Barry, I was hoping to be able to write more about the Frenzy by now but haven't been able to fly it very much due to bad weather. It's been rainy here and went it hasn't been rainy it's been windy. I've taken my Frenzy up about 10 flights now and really, really like it. It seems snapier than the 60 Do that I had and at first I thought that the Saito 125 would be too much for it but it seems at home with it. Hopefully now that spring is getting here I can get it out more and have more to report on it. So far though I real happy with it and glad I bought it.

It's made by Hangar 9 and is bigger than the 46 Do but smaller than the 60 Do.

Thanks going to go fly it tommarrow morning. The landing gear is the Dubro flex landing gear from tower hobbies still have the original havent assembled it. This plane was a replacment for my Twist 40. The engine the landing gear and all the servos came from a PNP Twist 40.

I havent flown the UCD much but hope to get use to it. 3 flights so far so it still needs some tweaking to get it to fly the way i like. comes in pretty hot my CG is 4 3/4" i think i need to add some weight to the tail and get it to 5 or more before i try to do do any 3D stuff and change my prop too. Doesnt want to float in for landings comes in real fast, So its a bit of a thrill to fly.

My battery is as far back as i can get it. so i'm pretty certain i'll have to add weight to it. Really dont want to do that, but seems the only way to get the CG farther back. plane came with a note saying the Cg could be as far back as 6 inches and as far foward as 4inches. I'm sure it would float in real nice at 6 but that just sounds a little to touchy for my liking. But in the review on the plane 5 inches seemed to be perfect..So i'll try that first. i think 5 3/4 would be max..

Thanks for the welcome to the thread..

Hey link,

You are gonna love the Do. I've had mine for two years. I like the CG at 6 1/4. It squats a bit going downwind but it is a blast to fly. I have the throws maxed on high rates and that it usually where they stay. First flight is in low for takeoff then into high and that's it.

I have been flying 50cc gas since last Nov. but have taken the Do out a couple of times. When you get the Do wired it is a blast.

David

I finally managed to break off the landing gear on mine, after more than 1½ years and dozen of gallons of fuel burned. But yes, the wood block with the blind nuts isn't really attached too well into the fuselage... I had a really nice landing this time, but last time I was flying I actually somewhat crashed the plane (the only real damage was to the throttle servo mount plus a broken propeller), but didn't notice any damage on the landing gear area.

The couple of ones that I have had break off have broken off fairly clean and were easy to fix.

Building my UCD using the Du-Bro HD Adjustable Control Horns versus the supplied plastic horns. What is normally done with the almost 1" extra length of bolt? Should I cut these off with a Dremel and use thread locker?
