Default 4wd baja?

I was looking through ebay and came across this,

it is 1/5 scale and has belt driven 4wd and looks really like a baja,

there were only a few seconds left on the auction so i never got to ask the seller about it

the pics arn't great,

anyone know who makes this or is it a 4wd conversion for the baja?

Looks to be a home-made conversion that someone gave up on and decided to sell it... i could be wrong though.

Said in the auction " Some un-known China mfg. ". It also said NOT high performance as it's belt drive. It has definitely been done by a factory or someone with connections. Notice the double molded side gear cover ... I'm sure we will be seeing more of these here sometime soon.

That looks like a great mod. I hope HPI will consider making a 4WD kit for the Bajas.

I bet this is a factory made car and they are testing the market, all the componets loook manufactured for this car, the chassis, fuel tank, radio box, wheels etc and lots of other parts all different and fit nicely!

thats pretty cool , you see hpi should have made us that insted of the awfull 5T , its good to see some other manufacturer come up with a 4wd system and be interested in making something like this , but i wonder if the engine loses power driving the belts to drive the front aswell , see thats the thing with 4wd systems, unless its a twin engine setup with an engine for the front and an engine for the rear , something like that would be freaking unreal

One thing about belts there % power loss is minimal, but I think one belt could have been used instead of 2!

You can still ask him about it even with it sold. Check your history for the page address. Please.

I would not bother with some silly 4x4 conversion to a car that was designed from the ground up to be 2wd. A proper 4x4 car such as MCD or Rampage will always be 1000 times better than a hoshposh like that. I don't get all these people that say they would buy a 4x4 Baja in a blink yet there are already plenty of 4x4 1/5ths available.

2 wheel drive is more than 50% of the fun factor.... its a BAJA!
like old VW's , more weight in the back! gotta love sand

But... could be lots of fun if HPI comes out with a 4x4 1/5 MT [:-] moving all that weight to the center off the chassis., or a touring [8D]

Yeah. The Baja platform won't take advantage of 4x4 at all. Anyone who's driven one knows that the front wheels don't get much traction.

I just found this vid of a custome 4WD Baja onversion.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOoly_lhuzc&NR=1

In the snow, NOT hving teh benefit of a monster truck's suspension stance made it belly out too much. Also, as siad several times already, it is rear heavy since the engine cenetr of mass is focused heavily on teh rear wheels.

Nice mod though, this chand driven 4WD mod. I am curious if teh front wheels have teh same gear ratio as the erar wheels. This would be a bad thing i teh front wheels do not turn at teh same speed as teh rear wheels.

After farting around watching more large scale RCs, I found anotehr 4WD conversion, but this is not a 4x4, it is an 8x4 truck

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Bih4kZZ_4k&NR=1

I love how the guy modded the exhaust to come out of smokestacks!

Towards teh end of the vid, when he was driving it around teh track after te tractor pulls, I thought it was extremely cheesy when he dubbed the sound of a nitro engine into the vid. Gassers do not sound like that!

I think you should take another look at the video as you`ll see there is a nitro buggy on the video at the end being carried by some guy
and not some dubbing done on the vid sound, but the truck looks great

I still think the 4x4 BAJA is very inovative, look @ the 6x6 baja w/2 engines that was made you guys all ogled over that... those belts on the 4x4 belt could be kevlar , and will last a LONG time.. Kevlar belts are used on almost everything from HD's to scooters and are proven to last longer then chains in the cycle industry...
