Yes .... Yes

But ... DON'T Do It !!
Many have tried it with success until having catastrophic failures ....
Servo may be sealed from water but cannot deal with the sweating and subsequent corrosion internally that happens when subjected to being out in the elements.

Traxxas now has a water-resistant servo but I'm not sold on it yet. Futaba many years ago had waterproof servos but were a real pain if you had to take them apart for any reason as the thin O-rings around the case pieces were hard to correctly put back into place.
I've been using a waterproofing spray in my RX's and servos with good luck. I've got a bottle of Aero-Plate that I don't think is still made but others swear by Corrosion X.
One of my winter projects is a little .12 powered sport hydroplane that has no room for a radio box so all of the gear will be out in the open so to speak but under a hatch. Some of the fast electric boat racers don't use radio boxes either as sealing around all of the wiring would be a chore.
Scott and I have both probably seen gas boaters that have not used radio boxes but I couldn't tell you how it worked out for them. Normally I like the added insurance of a box even with my radio gear Aero-Plated.

I personally pull my servos apart, spray them with corrosion inhibitor and grease all the joints (spline hole, top and base cap and wire slot) before screwing them back together. This has worked well for me and I've never had an issue from water in the servos.

I agree with Scott! DON"T DO IT!! A well built radio box is the ticket. Water, electronics, and vibration are not a good mixture! Brian
