Hi you expert guys:

I need to learn how to apply the decals on my Seawolf, it's going to be converted to RC, so they have to be well protected.

But I've never built complete kits before, applying decals and all of that.

Is there any crash course? I just can't make any mistake because there are no replacement decals here.

Regards
Robert

I feel ya. I just redid my Seawolf and I no longer have decals and now have to make my own. I find the best way to do the decals is to set up a reference line using painters take. Then cut the decal as close as possible on one side. Soak the decal to it becomes loose on the paper. Generally I find it takes about 35-40 seconds. Put the decal on the paper up to where you want it and using one dampened hand hold the decal in place and slide the paper out from underneath. Allow to dry thoroughly and apply decal set. then after that has dried a few layers of what ever clear coat you like and you should be good.

So I don't have to transport the decal from the water to the model without the paper; it has to be still on the paper but loose?

Sounds not easy for a beginner.

Thanks
Robert

Actually that is they easiest way i have found to do it. Transporting the decal without the paper backing means you run the risk of tearing the very thin decal. You also have a chance that it might fold onto itself and loosing set time tring to fix it. Not to mention when you remove it from the paper while still in water you also run the risk of washing away some of the dissolved adhesive on the back. Go buy yourself a 7 dollar model at the hobby store and practice with the decals it has if you are worried. The practice will be worth the money and you can also use it to practice filling gaps and painting. Food for thought!
