I have a small plane I'm building and want filletts around the wing saddle. How can I make them lite and evenly shaped on both sides.

Is this wing glued to the fuse, or is it removable?

The wing is simi-perminant. It bolts on and will be removed for maintanance or repairs. I thought of using a spoon to put on some lite filler than sanding it. Whatever I use it will have to be the same or nearly the same hardness as the surrounding balsa.

You can make a base from 1/64 ply and glue it to the fuse with triangle stock. Then, use your spoon method to smooth some lite filler over it.

I've had good luck gluing 1/64th ply to the fuse saddle with the wing attached. Be sure to use wax paper, or plastic wrap between the wing and saddle area so as not to permanently glue the wing to the fuse. Let the ply stick out from the fuse aprox 1/8 inch. This will make a 90 degree support for the filler. The filler can be epoxy mixed with micro-balloons, model-magic, or several other combinations that you can search for on RCU. I prefer the epoxy and micro-balloons due to the ease of shaping and sanding. To shape, I dip a finger into a bottle of iso. alcohol and run the fillet into shape. Requires very little sanding after it sets up. Hope this helps.

I like the 1/64 ply and filler method myself. In the past, however, the filler has drawn up, (shrunk) pulling the fillet up. It generally isn't a problem at the front of the fillet where it is small. But near the trailing edge of the wing, where the fillet is its broadest, it pays to keep the 1/64 ply taped to the wing until the filler is completely dry. If that make any sense.
