Hey Fred, don't know how I missed this. I have some primer on the mig so far. I am in he process of making some better exhaust stacks.....just to take it up a notch. I have added some other details and I will get some pics maybe later this week. How are things going with your Corsair? Hey Fred, heres a question for you and your many yrs of....experience. How do you or would you attach the canopy? I am looking for a new and improved way of doing business

heres a question for the Mig 3 afficiondos.....I am considering making the radiator exhaust door functional/operational. I am consideringhooking the radiator up to the throttke channel so that in the lo/idle position doors open and in the high sppeed , balls to the walls, radiator doors are closed. What do you think and how would you do it? By the way, I have been putting my time into the cockpit and some other mods that hopefully will meet your approval.

Hey Tony,
Sounds like a great idea. I did the same setup with my MB 5 I built a few years ago. Had a dump door that would open when the gear was down. Had it Y'ed into the retract servo channel. When the gear went down the door would open. Worked well when the engine was ideling and the plane was at low speed in the landing configuration. Can't wait to see it finished. Corsair is ready to fly. I'll let you know how I make out.
Later,
Fred

glad to see that it has been done and by you. Any special track or servoe setup required? Any pics or drawings? Glad to hear that the Corsair is proceeding along. Ia m afraid that I wont get the Mig in the air until late summer. This cockpit aint no joke. Just trying to figure out what goes where and how and realizing that fabrication is the name of the game.

Hi Tony,
I cut a rectangular door in the middle of the radiator scoop. Then sheeted the inside of the radiator on the sides and bottom to make a ramp inside the radiator. Just hinge the door like a control surface, add a servo and pushrod and you are good to go. Think of the whole setup as a spit flap and you will get the idea. Hope this helps. If you want to give me a call we can talk.
Thanks,
Fred

just to let you kow that progress is being had. Just some work on the cockpit for now. After hanging out with Check6 and Merlin, I knew I had to do a lil something. Tried to simulate the tubular construction, it has a 1st aid kit, cables, buttons, lights. If I had more room for the gun, I would add it. Hopefully this weekend, I will have the more scale exhaust installed.

Very nice work Tony. I like it.

I'm glad you didn't attempt the floor. You would have been beating your head against a wall... the Russians put so much stuff down there it was silly.

Do you mean the radiator in the belly? The oil coolers on the sides of the nose or the supercharger intakes in the wing roots?

got the canopy mounted and did some more more filling and sanding. Evel, need your thoughts on my exhaust stacks. I tacked glued them on to see how things will sit. I am thinking they may need to be a lil more flush to the fuse....but not flat. Depends on what your documentation shows but......excuse the messy basement

Honestly they don't look bad. Mayhap a LITTLE too high on the nose and a wee bit too big in diameter...

that P80 is actually my T33 done up in a Tuskegee Airman paint scheme. It is what i call my "What If ".....the war went a few more yrs. It is a Byron T33 on a Ram 750 and RTF. Haven't flown it yet. Need to verify the CG. The exhaust stacks ae actually 1" PVC and they are a tad bit smaller than what comes with the kit. I will leave as is then and move them to the correct location. Thanks for the input.

Excellent! Its a shame Byron (Iron Bay) is dead. I don't think anyone makes a decent P-80/T-33 anymore...

Ram

If you will use the second comouflage ,you won't see the details on fuselage of model !
I think the first comou is better ,but on the tail the white colour must bi like whitewash

fokke, we see thingsthe same. White wash would be difficult to replicate. I would have to used thinned paint on a paint brush and not worry about a perfect cover. The all white version would be the easiest. Camo is hard to mess up.

Yeah, I've been searching for the Byron for four years now...

Seems like as soon as they hit the market for whatever reason, they are snapped up right quick!

Oh and if you look at the white and green one you posted, above the 2nd and third stacks, you can see the gas tubes that forced exhaust gas into the fuel tanks to reduce the amount of O2 in the tanks, thus reducing fire hazards.
