Default Need some Ideas

Hey all, been awhile since I've posted. I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and a safe New Years. I'm posting because I need some ideas. I have enough electronics to get another 1/2a bird up and flying. So I'm coming to the best place on earth to get some suggestions for some good flying birds. I currently have a SS and a Delta up and running, but I would like something else to fly. Before you suggest a DNU, I've had one of those (still do actually, sitting on my bench) but I'm looking for something I haven't flown. I need something that is maneuverable and fun to fly. Need something that would fly on a Sure Start would fly (since I'm flying electric) spirited. Don't want 3D, want some aerobatic and fairly quick. Doesn't have to be a kit, or an ARF, actually would prefer plans. Need to start building again. (Built myself a hell of a work bench, and haven't used it yet)

Thanks all for the ideas in advance.

I'm working on down sizing a ultimate, I'm printing off some plans tomorrow and putting it on a diet for 1/2A size. I'll make a demo plane for tirals and finalize the framework for final plans. If your willing to wait a bit, other wise, look into a few faily recent posts by ravindave, one is a low wing r/o design that looks good if you lessen the dihedral and change the incidence on the tail and wing, add a elevator and alerions.

About 2 1/2yrs ago I scaled down Bridi's Sun Fli IV for 1/2A. It flies great, like a little pattern plane (which it is). It's as aerobatic as you want, but very solid and smooth.

Right click on the attachment and save it as sunfli-iv.pdf

Everyone,

I like the skydrill and the sunfli-iv, leaning towards the sunfli-iv right now.

Planebuilder, would the bipe be full house? I've wanted a bipe for some time now. Any ETA on plans and such.

Thanks all!

That plane is marvellously cute. For me it looks dangerously overpowered with an .049. I have Pee Wees that would overpower that! You must have mad flight skills!

Mad intentions at least! Overpowering was high on the design wish list. After test flights the product engine comes out and in goes a VA .049 R/C of which I've grown particularly fond. It's a very low aspect ratio design, but in this scale that is as much a benefit as a detriment as it results in higher Reynold's numbers, and the tip losses just have to be accepted I guess. I do have tip plates made for it, which I will install after I test it without. I was all pissy coz they weigh 8 grams each, but I'm pretty much over it now.

Sorry - no intentions of hijacking the thread!!! [8D] The build is in a thread called Squirt prototype or something like that.

I downloaded some plans on here for a stick bipe...I have an OS .15la on the nose right now, however, I have not flown it yet. I'm still waiting foe spring to come, which may be in another year or two the way the weather has been lately! I think it would be a perfect candidate for an outrunner!

I must say, I love your avitar, how'd you pull that one off? The bipe looks sweet, the thing I have to remember is 1/2A bipes are small, like 14-17" wingspan, depending on wing thickness and chord.

Just make sure the epoxy is 100% cured first, or you'll end up with another Great Panes U-Can-Fly Flaccid clone [:-] ..
