Help needed in Club -40 Racing for 2009.
I have spoken with Chuck Waller and he said he will not be able to do the c-40 races this year, and was leaving it to Jim Dudda & Fredy French. I spoke with Fredy and he said ha may have a few races at his place but other than that no plans have been made. I emailed Jim Dudda and he said he was burned out and was retiring from racing. I completly understand and want to thank him and Chuck for all there hard work and money they have invested in the past

A lot of C-40 racers in the Austin, Georgetown, and San Antonio area, each club whos members want a race should pony up, pick a date and put on a race. To much work for just one or two people, I don't see how Chuck lasted as long as he did. We will have 16 Q25 races in the metroplex in 09 and each club with a date will support and put on that event.

I agree nwith you send me your dates we may come up there and race with you. I would like to do some here in Waco but can't get the club behind me. I think Larry would but some of the other powers don't want anything to do with racing.

Jim

Jim, two of the three clubs putting on races, Texas Wings, Richardson Radio Control Club, have approved the race dates, Ft. Worth Thunderbirds will vote on dates later this month. I'll let all know when everthing is voted on.

HOTMAC The old field by the lake where we held the warm up and shoot out.

I have talked to our club president and he thinks the club will allow some races here if we can gain enough support staff. I am working on getting my CD ticket. Would you all be willing to come down this way some time. I think as we have seen in past events the C-40's and the Q-25's run so close to gather we could run them together. But believe me if I have anything to do with it it will be by mutual agreement from participants and "NOT MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY" After all this is for fun.......

SKULLY

It was to me too. I was in San Antonio last week and gave Chuck a call to tell him I was working on getting my CD ticket so I could help out if he needed any help "Last year he told me he started out with 5 CD's but ended up doing it all by him self. I can fully understand his position. He said he was leaving it up to Jim Dudda and Fredy French. Later I called Fredy and he said it was news to him, and that he was planing on having a few races at his place, but did not have the time to take on the whole series. That is not a direct quote so please corect me Fredy if I miss spoke. A few days later I e-mailed Jim Dudda and he wrote back that he was kind of burned out and was going to set this year out.

So I'm proposing a early fun fly type meet here in Waco much like we did last year. So we can all get togeather and work something out Cuz Club 40 Razin is just too much fun .

Jim, I was at the warm up race at HOTMAC last year, great field. I don't know about getting the two groups together, C-40 & Q-25. The races in the metroplex will kick off in early March and then there will be a race ever two weeks thru June. July and Aug will be off months then Sept thru early Dec. a race about ever two weeks a fairly busy schedule.

Well I was planning on a couple races in New Waverly this year, and even a 3 pole event. Chuck DID do allot for all of us who raced last season, and I can understand his position. Chuck ran from event to event and just never stopped, Thanks Chuck!!

Now Houston is trying to get some C-40 going, Texas City has about 10 member with planes, so they're ready. Really we have a "Race" twice every month. On the first Saturday of the month New Waverly puts up the pylons, and the third Sat Tx City puts them up. Houston Sport Flyers pylon guys, fly almost every Saturday. So we get to smack talk, and tear up stuff all the time.

As far as going to Waco,, I'm in!! as for DFW,, I don't know, the way we started beating on the Q25 guys at the match race last year, they might not welcome a C-40 fella. Whatta ya say Wheels?? give a guy a break?? and let me whip ya, again?

Lets try and get an event some where soon as the weather clears up some, so we can all get togeather and sort things out. New Waverly would be fine I've got acess to a time share there on the lake that the ones that have to far to travel can stay at. I don't care what I race as long as I 'm racing, and I know Richard is the same way.

Jim

Saw a sign on a pickup the other day "If it fly's it dies" I am more like if it fly's it will crash....

All races in the metroplex will be on Sunday. Anyone know what the Houston guys are going to do this year? I would like to fly 424 3 pole this year and maybe 428 in the fall. I still have a couple of C-40 planes and I work Houston all the time so maybe I'll get to fly with you guys sometime. Ft. Worth Thunderbird field in Ben Brook is not that far away from WACO they will have at least 4 Q-25 races this year. Course is 450' two pole. Best times are in the low 1:40's, high 1:30's, I'm sure everone is very welcome, so get yourself a Viper, hang on a stock OS 25FX and come play.

There are several "Iron in the fire" we just have to get everyone on the same page and get together and work out a schedule.

I'd like to help however I can but I'm not a CD.

I raced some quickie over a decade ago and tonight I am completing an LA Racer specifically for club 40 racing. I was talking to a friend, who also recently picked up a LA Racer for C-40 racing, about possibly bringing some races into Houston. He primarily flies out at Jetero on the North East side of Houston and I believe they already have pylons on site.
I will see about pointing this thread out to him. I currently live in College Station but traveling is never a problem for me throughout Texas or the surrounding States.

I plan on purchasing a couple more C-40 racers and attending as many events as possible.. It sounds like a whole lot of fun..!

Look forward to meeting everyone this year,
David

David give me a call some time, and come over to Waco there are 6 or 7 C-40 racers here and we get out when ever we can. They had some races at New Waverly last year and I think they will do it again. Here in Waco we have the polls fixed so all we have to do is set them up when ever we want to race. 5 of us from waco competed in most of the races last year, we finished near the bottom of the list, but it was still the most fun ever had flying.

Hi Jim,

I'd love to come up just to practice and meet you guys. Today was a beautiful day but I decided to try and exercise some discipline and finish up a couple of planes that are ready to fly.. I'm also putting in an Eagle Tree system. I have the Seagull Pro with G-Force meter, GPS and downlink.. I'm going to install it just to see what type of speed and G's these guys are pulling. It can always come out when it is time to race..

As for skill.. My pylon rust is quite thick, so I am sure I will be bringing up the back of the pack for some time, but still sounds like a blast!

Eric,

You are right up the road too.. My girlfriend actually lives in Coldspring so even better. I think I flew at your club a few times many years back.. Will PM you and hopefully we can meet up sometime soon. Are you still pushing for races there? You could definitely count me and at least one other guy in from this area.

To all,

We are planning on having a Club 40 race in Texas City on April 18th on a Saturday. For those of you that have never been there, check out our website www.tcrcc.org. There is a map to our field there.

Reading thru all the threads, to my knowledge all the Club 40 racing was on Saturdays, not Sundays, or at least the races that I attended.

Also, as far as anything planned for AMA 422, 424 and 428 3 pole racing, there isn't anything yet. The current VP of NMPRA Dist 8 is dropping out and nobody has stepped up to fill in his shoes. Not saying there won't be anything planned, just nothing planned yet.

Thanks,

Mike W
