I checked ALL screws after every run & Blu-Loctite'd metal to metal dwn, but , like I said-hit the brake-break a tooth on spur gear.

sounds like your throttle is still engaged when you hit the brake, so the engine is pushing against your brake and breaking the spur gear, make sure your idle is set correctly and make sure that your brake doesn't engage before the throttle returns to idle

Has n e 1 attempted to locate a metal spur gear that will work w/T2? I've gone thru 5 plastic spurs since X-mas, so u can imagine how frustr8d I am. Not getn much run time to enjoy my truck especially since there r no hobby shops th@ carry parts for this vehicle n my st8. My mesh seems to b fine, but if iI hapn to hit the brake hard-there went my gear! Can the SH .18 handle an 18T clutchbell gear w/like a 40T spur? I'm experimenting-I've got a Traxxes tuned pipe on it now, but now it wont hit second gear. I don't have n e grub screws to adjust gear changes-still tinkering with idle speed & getn up to temp! If i wasnt burnin' thru gears maybe I could figure sumthin out. N e suggestions besides direct drive wud b appreci8d! Don't wanna continue dumpin $ n 2 this truck!

to adjust when the trans shifts you will need an allen wrench and turn the screw counterclockwise to make it shift earlier

So n other words, I need to adjust my throttle trim so th@ my truck isn't about to take off on it's own before I hit the throttle for faster launches? Back it off?

That wud b much appreci8d Montana-Ive got until next wknd 2 gt it up 2 par & take on my friend who has an extremely hopped up electric Evader EXT like mine(I knw this truck isn't hitn on much outta box) but he nvested n a Cobalt 12T motor, new ESC, 7-cell, etc! Wen I last saw th@ truck run I must say it's a force to b reckoned w/! Wheelies, sparks-fast! He basically rebuilt the whole thing cuz wen he crashed it, there went the chassis & his other new ESC caught fire!! lol

the grub screw is on top side of the trans in the back there is a hole, but you have to spin the gears so the grub screw is facing the hole. Then turn it counterclockwise to shift earlier

your throttle should be set as high as possible where the clutch does NOT engage and make the wheels spin, but also make sure that the carb isn't sticking when you release the throttle and hit the break

There is absolutely no need for metal spur gears. If you have your mesh set correctly it won't give you a problem. I've had my tsunami since the beginning of October. I've stripped both 1st and 2nd gear one time each. Both were my fault cause I pulled the tranny and didn't put it back with mesh set right. I've been running the everliving crap out of it for I don't know how long. The plastic spur gears are just fine. I'm sure the majority of the guys/gals on here will totally agree with me. So if your stripping that many spur gears, then you might want to take a minute and make absolutely positive you have your mesh set before you run it again..

good advise i have 2 volcanos i keep runnin and neither has been too troublesome, neither have stripped gears. my son wrecked pretty hard a wk ago and for some reason the throttle/break servo quit, but that's the only issue we've had with em and both trucks have had almost 2 gallons each thru them i'm a total newbie to nitro trucks, so its not my "experience" keeping them goin, i credit that to this forum and the directions

My engine mount screws can't even b broken unless I strip the head, so it's hard 4 me 2bleve th@ screws have vibr8d loose. Wut gives?

Oh, and as far as your engine mount screws, you outta change them to hex heads. Far less likely to strip. You can also add some silicone or some sort of a rubber gasket between the chasis and the engine mounts to help with vibration, but loctite usually works no problem.

i disagree with this, i have had way to many problems with hex heads, or atleast the small ones. I've stripped to many to count on my vehicles, causing much frustration. if you change it to hex heads make sure they are big ones, but i think the philips head screws are much better especially when you have the right sized screwdriver

I changed mine to hex heads two or three days after I got it. I have a friend who is a machinest and he's the one who suggested it to me, I've removed my engine a couple times and haven't had a problem. However the first time I removed the phillips screws for me to change them I pretty much stripped all of them out. I had to have my friend take it to work with him and he used a back out tool to get them out. I put the hex heads in and haven't had a problem since.

You might could use a variable speed cordless drill, BUT!!! use it VERY SLOWLY!!! if you do strip the heads, sears and a few other hardware stores have a backout tool that will get them out. But I've never used it so don't hold me to that. But it's ENTIRELY UP TO YOU whether you want to try it or not. That's the only thing I can think of that might help get them out.

and if you really get desperate you can use a grinder the grind the heads off, but then you will have to buy a new motor mount, that's what i had to do when i stripped my hex bolt for my engine when i was setting the mesh on my landslide
