Has anyone seen, or for that matter , purchased or run one of these engines? Ebay store that sells them is claiming 5.2hp@16,000rpm, with a walbro 929 carb(15.88mm) a 4 bearing crankcase (has there really been any problems with a 2 bearing cc?) for $265.00 . seems like a fair price for 5+hp ! also, has anyone run a boost bottle setup on their boat? I know back in the 80's when I had my 250R, it was a must have option(air cooled)!!!

They started getting into the hands of a few last fall, but so far only a handful of users have posted running results. That said the general feeling is they run GREAT with the smaller props at high rpm. Pictures posted over at JRCBD show the engine to be SUPER beefed up in casting material thickness, a true tuners dream !!

The latest S-254 that has a RCMK piston now should make it a legal NAMBA G-1 class engine, so it should take off as an alternative to the Zenoah.

I have a new s-254 on order myself that I should get my hands on in a few weeks .... can't wait too see what type of power can be extracted

Looking into one myself now. Found that Ebay deal and may have to place an order. Looks like a very potent engine.

I have SX254 motor in my mono. Very nicely made motor, runs great also, but has only 2-3litres on it so can't say anything about durability.
Can't say anything about the power output of the stock clinder either, since I have the ST clinder on it....all I can say for now, it has enough...

If you buy it do it at the rcmk site, Mr Park has great customer service, don't think 'Tough Racing' has the same support...

Been running one in a modified state for a few weeks now .... at this point my smile is HUGE, and the rigger it is in smoken fast and getting faster as I work out the finer details on the correct mods to make.

MGB is going to publish a review of the stock S-254 within the week .... So go over to www.modelgasboats.com and check it out shortly

That's true, no specs anywhere, but the power depends a lot on the used pipe, so I can understand they don't give any specs.
But for what I can see/feel, it is enough for sport boaters, might even be enough for racers with the Special Tournament cilinder.
And if Scott says it's fantastic!, believe him..

Word on the street among the tuners and what I am discovering too, the Tournament cylinder that is done in house by RCMK runs very very well, but actually is over ported.
Exhaust duration is too much putting the power band up at really high rpm. The eyebrow job on transfers a tad too wide for maintaining a strong and well controlled charge entering cylinder.
The degree of work required getting these engines too produce racing spec power is not really that much The cylinder mods being done by hand and actually more conservative in port work are making better broad rpm power.

Exhaust system is VERY important with these engines because the exhaust port itself is HUGE. So far, the best pipe Hands Down ! on the RCMK is the CC racing PowerMaster 1" header with 2" band

If no-one is petting you .. you'll have to do that yourself :-)

Marcel says : "but the power depends a lot on the used pipe"

Scott says : "Exhaust system is VERY important with these engines"
and : "the best pipe Hands Down ! on the RCMK is the CC racing PowerMaster 1" header with 2" band"
Ha ha Marcel is using my 5 stage silenced deepV-pipe ... so that has to be a good pipe :-)

Scott says : "but actually is over ported"
Hmmmmmmmmmm .. you find 186* exh.timing overported ??????
With a int.timing of 154* you'll still have a 32* blowdown ..... and a engine with just enough torque and will rev up to 20.000.

Blowdown is the duration from exhaust port open to transfer port open, not intake port.Transfer timing is very similar to Zenoah 260.

HendricX ,

Can't figure if the post is Sarcastic ? ..... Or that your 5 stage pipe is some how the ideal pipe, tho we have never heard of it , Or you feel that 20K rpm is the ideal place to be when the peak HP is under that ?

We are only sharing here, have some solid R&D results ? share them because off the wall ramblings as you have posted don't say squat

quote:

If no-one is petting you .. you'll have to do that yourself

Cute ... smart ass !! .... like so many you throw stones yet share nothing .... Please share showing us the errors in our ways

Here's the specs and link for U.S. buyers on E-bay. Sounds like an impressive engine if specs are true.... http://cgi.ebay.com/RCMK-S254-26cc-pull-starter-Gas-Marine-Engine-5-2HP_W0QQitemZ270360356090QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio_Control_Parts_Accessories?hash=item270360356090&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

Scott .. if your memory failes .. you can't blame me.

We discussed my MGB article on pipe silencing before , and you know where to find my online article.

And yes .. of course the pipes are dyno tested ..... that's done by JohanD.

I don't have the data .. cause I was only interested in if there where performance changes. (bearly any)

Live testing / testimonials : loosed about 300rpm .. will pull tad bigger prop.
They were fixed/welded pipes , still waiting on result on adjustible one.

Maybe HendricX took the claim that the cc racing powermaster pipe is the best one hands down for this motor as a bit of an insult ,im sure Scott never meant it to sound like that though .

I got mine Friday from Gizmo, $259.00 shipped. Now I'm just waiting for the boat that it's going into as it hasn't been laid up yet. Bruce is selling a lot of these right now as it appears to be the hot engine for those running T-boats or other stock engine classes. Hey, it even comes with an NGK plug so you don't have to toss a Champion that comes with the Zen's.
I haven't done much with mine yet except turning the cooling head 180 degrees so that the water will go out the port side. I've got a 177 carb that was modded by Kevin Sheren that I may put on it but the stock carb looks fine. Bruce/Gizmo also has 257's dirt cheap.

Are these engines priced so low now only because they are so new? Should I be expecting the price to go up? I have no need for a new motor, but if the prices are going to go up I may have to pick one of these up now.
