Politics! Most all airplane lovers have the same preference
The Apollo Field B-17 Squadron Flew in to "Wings Over Chino" at the Prado model field in Chino. Here is a little of the air to air stuff. Thanks to Paul (Drumbum)!

I hate doing this, for my dislike for the powerplant and country of origin but here it is

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__17203__B_17_Memphis_Belle_EPO_1875mm_PNF_.html

This is the most scale one of them all and it flies the best. Will someone change that landing gear please!

You can't get one like mine though. I am the one in the video with the flaps down. Mine is about 25 years old, rebuilt last year, all wood and glass. Power by 4-OS .15CVA's and Robart air retracts and tailwheel. 15 pounds. You can still get the plans and parts on ebay, even the whole kit somtimes too.
But who would want to build one when you can just pour it out of the box, push the button and play !

And then marvel at a successful maiden and post a video of it. "Gee, it flies". Ya think? What a surprise!

Phew, I am relieved. If a bad guy with an rc plane had access to the basin, no telling what he could do. Lucky he can't possibly take off an rc plane from any street, public park or parking lot in Los Angeles. Thankfully, the bad guys always obey the rules, right?

So I'm in So Cal for the week and I brought my 48" EF extra and met some friends for lunch out there today.. Wow,, some things never change,, they just get worse,, what a circus you guys have going there these days. guys flying over the pits, behind people standing on the flight line, over the entrance road, guys flying (and crashing) in the parking lot, just about a total free for all. and this was just a lazy Tuesday afternoon, I can't imagine what the weekends are like these days.

Still fun to fly there though

Same, x10.

Everything you mentioned is the result of the Electric Flyer section the Valley Flyers club installed.

Well, as the saying goes, "I didn't know what heartburn was until I left home and the fire went out". What you describe is pretty much any day at the basin.

Ah yes, California folks, bless 'em. Eons ago I was working in Huntington Beach when I heard a spiffy new trapshooting range had opened up a little south of Orange County Airport. So I got out a shotgun and some shells, and went down to pop a few rounds.

Bad move.

Of all the times in my ancient life that some nitwit has pointed a gun at me, all but one or two happened that day. Finally someone actually poked me with his muzzle to get my attention, and I got his in a manner that ensured I'd never be seen there again...

In response to "do we know him and Tom,
Yes we do, Santiago is a first rate kid, I'm personally glad to know him. I also have met his father, who has in my opinion done a fine job raising Santiago. There both really good folks.

The radio is used for everything from that little foamy to his 30% IMAC planes of which he does them awesome justice, and I know he worked very hard to earn it.
It's a shame there are no contests in our local area as he would very much like to compete more often. If you ever see him at the field, stop and take the time to watch him fly, there are only a handfull with his skills out there.

Mike R

I will definitely stop what I am doing if I see him.  That kid is good.  I am not into 3D but always enjoy anyone with that kind of talent.
